On March 25, a unit of the US-led coalition visited the town of Jazrah in the western countryside of Syria’s Raqqa and inspected a former base of the coalition, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The London-based monitoring group said that the unit, which moved in specially equipped SUVs, stayed in Jazrah base for several hours before leaving.
“The forces of the international coalition have recently intensified their visits to the area, amid information about them redeploying in the abandoned base,” a source familiar with the matter told the SOHR.
In October 2019, the US-led coalition withdraw all of its forces from areas held by its proxy, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in the northeastern Aleppo countryside and Raqqa. The withdrawal was carried out to facilitate a Turkish-led attack on the SDF. During the withdrawal process, coalition troops evacuated several key bases, like the one located near Jazrah.
In the last few months, several reports revealed unusual movements by US-led coalition forces in the northeastern Aleppo countryside and Raqqa.
The US raid that targeted the hideout of ISIS former leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi in northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib on February 3 was reportedly launched from a former coalition base in the Lafarge cement plant in then northeastern countryside of Aleppo.
The US-led coalition have been working to expand its presence in Syria’s northeastern region for more than a year now. The coalition’s attempts to return to the northeastern Aleppo countryside and Raqqa could lead to problems with Russian and Syrian government forces which are currently present there.
