On October 13, warplanes of the US-led coalition carried out a series of airstrikes with phosphorous bombs on the ISIS-held town of Hajin on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
“The US-led coalition bombed several areas in the town of Hajin, 110km east of the city of Deir Ezzor, with internationally forbidden white phosphorous bombs,” a local source told SANA adding that the airstrikes didn’t result in any casualties.
Yuri Shvytkin, deputy chair of the Russian parliament’s lower house’s defense committee said the U.N. and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) should investigate the US-led coalition use of phosphorous bombs in Syria if the incident in Hajin is confirmed.
“First of all, the authenticity of the information has to be verified. If it is confirmed, then without a doubt, a relevant request has to be immediately submitted to the OPCW when the information is obtained so that a relevant internal investigation is conducted; the issue must be brought to the attention of the UN Security Council,” Shvytkin told the Russian news agency Sputnik.
The US-led coalition has used the internationally forbidden white phosphorous munitions multiple times during its military campaign in Syria. Last month, the Ministry of Defense of Russia revealed that two F-15 warplanes of the coalition dropped phosphorous bombs on Hajin. However, the incident was not investigated.

A claim that white phosphorous bombs were used is just the word of Russian trolls. Actual pictures on the other hand, pics that will stand up to severe scrutiny, will be so much more harder to dismiss.
You don’t need evidence in America, a claim is enough to get you locked up and executed in the US, why should this be any different?

I did read the article and never heard of Shvytkin and when something important needs to be done then it is done by someone important like Putin or Minister of defense, has an impact.
There is a protocol that has to be followed up. Report- decision makers- instructions- announcement- UN resolution. I wish UN was an active and objective body.
So true, unfortunately the UN is compromised and has been on extended leave for a number of years but that shouldn’t stop countries from lodging complaints and using local courts to issue summons on perpetrators and violators of international law. Talking and doing nothing is not the solution.

I don’t believe it. President Trump would never authorize the use of phosphorous weapons. I know Israel has used them in the recent past. My guess is Israel is behind this and trying to blame the US for it. Not sure what their motivation would be.
