US-led coalition warplanes carried out airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in the western Iraqi province of al-Anbar, a spokesman for the Iraqi Security Media Cell announced on March 28.

“Based on accurate intelligence and in coordination with the International [US-led] Coalition, Coalition aircraft carried out precision bombing on March 25 on two Daesh [ISIS] sites and destroyed them in Badiya al-Jazeera in Anbar province,” Brigadier Yahya Rasool said in a short press release.

These airstrikes were a part of operation “Last Warning,” which was launched on October 7 of the last year. The operation is aimed at neutralizing the remaining ISIS cells in al-Jazeera and al-Anbar.

Following its recent defeat in the Middle Euphrates River Valley in eastern Syria, ISIS stepped up its activities in western Iraq. Last week, three suicide bombers, who entered Iraq through al-Anbar desert, blew themselves up in the northern Iraqi region of Sinjar.

The US-led coalition will likely carry out more airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in western Iraq in the upcoming few days, as more terrorists are reportedly trying to sneak in from Syria.
