According to a miltiary budget project for 2020 Fiscal Year, the US military will receive a total of 373 aircraft of various types. This numbert incudes 78 F-35A, F-35B and F-35C fighters, 17 UAVs of various types and other equipment. It’s interesting to note that the US is planning to obtain 22 F-5 jets for the “agressor squad”, which plays role of the enemy in various drills.

Right, we are told the F-35 has an unparalleled kill ratio against F-16’s and other aircraft, and in 2020 they are buying a third generation fighter to play the aggressor mode against these F-35’s.
The F35 without its avionics and stealth resembles a third generation aircraft in performance and capabilities, going against F-20 would be interesting.
Can F35 take on the Sopwith Camel, I wonder?
