US federal court in San Diego, California, accused eight officers of the US Navy of providing classified data to a foreign agent in exchange for organization sex parties for them, the Washington Post newspaper reported, citing court documents.
According to the investigators, from 2006 to 2014, US officers have been receiving bribes in the form of expensive gifts, services of prostitutes and residence in luxury hotels from Leonard Glenn Francis, a Singapore-based defense contractor.
In exchange for these ‘gifts’ representatives of the US Navy have been providing the businessman with classified information that helped his firm to get advantageous contracts with the Pentagon.
“Retired US Navy Rear Admiral Bruce Loveless and eight other high-ranking Navy officers are charged in a federal indictment with accepting luxury travel, elaborate dinners and services of prostitutes… in exchange for classified and internal US Navy information,” а press release of the US Department of Justice, issued on Tuesday, reads.
Reportedly, Francis has pleaded guilty to defrauding the US Navy of tens of millions of dollars.
Currently, 27 individuals have been charged in connection with the investigation, while more than 200 others are under suspicion. Ten current and former Navy officials have pleaded guilty so far.
