US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told CBS that the US is preparing new sanctions on Russia in order to punish the country for its support of the Syrian government.
The new wave of sactions is set to be announced on April 16.
Haley claimed that the sactions will affect companies that are allegedly “dealing with equipment related to Assad and any chemical weapons use.”
“And so I think everyone is going to feel it at this point. I think everyone knows that we sent a strong message and our hope is that they listen to it,” Haley said commenting on the US response to Russia’s continued support to Syria.
Washington continues to argue that the Syrian government still poses and produces chemical weapons as well as uses it in various areas across Syria.
The April 14 strike on the country by the US, the UK and France was justified with allegations that the Assad government was behind the April 7 “chemical attack” in Douma.
However, the version of the events provided by the Pentagon reaises serious doubts. For example, 76 of 105 launched missiles allegedly hit “Barzah Research and Development Center”. According to the Pentagon, this center is a major chemical weapons research and production facility.
The problem is that the center was recently inspected by the OPCW and it found no chemical weapons there. MORE HERE

I do understand the cautious Russian approach. But surely there must come a point were patients is no longer possible. I do believe Russia is building its strength and that a little more time is needed. Trying to chock a nation to death is war. I for one would wish to see Russia take some proactive action and not be just responsive or indeed passive. I know this is possible as Russian action over Crimea was swift and decisive. Consider this. The usa tried a ‘revolution’ in Ukraine and then within a month Crimea was part of the Russian Federation. That was decisive and left the west just complaining. Russia can step up the the plate, that’s for sure.
