US President Donald Trump is expected to announce his approval of a plan to sell anti-tank missiles to the Ukrainian regime, ABC News reported citing “four State Department sources”.
“If the president formally signs off, the plan will be presented to Congress for a 30-day review period where it would need to be approved before the State Department can implement it.
The sale of anti-tank missiles, which could possibly include the U.S.-made Javelin system, provoked a strong reaction from Russia on Saturday, saying it “crossed the line,” and could threaten to derail Trump’s calls for better relations with Moscow.
The total defense package of $47 million includes the sale of 210 anti-tank missiles and 35 launchers. Additional supplies will need to be purchased, according to a senior State Department official,” ABC News’ article says.
The move would mark a major escalation in lethal US military support to the Poroshenko regime battling forces the Donetsk and Logansk People’s Republics in eastern Ukraine.
On December 22, the US State Department announced that the US will provide the Ukrainain regime with “enhanced defensive capabilities”. However, the Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert provided no details what kind of “enhanced” weapons the US is going to supply to the Ukrainian regime. The announcement followed an official confirmation that the Trump administration had authorized lethal weapons supplies to Kiev.

In Afghanistan, Russian forces work with Taliban. For years the Russians worked with groups like the northern alliance. Russians worked with various Chechen criminal terror networks that were closely linked to al Qaeda until one of them agreed to suit up for the Russian team but it continues to support groups, mostly in foreign countries, that are composed of jihadists, for political reasons. In syria, Russian forces are active with hezbollah, and various iranian quds forces formations(terror groups). In addition, I don’t believe the system can be used against, for example, fortifications; with beam riders you can aim at windows and fissures and put a thermobaric atgm inside them. With the javelin lockon system, you can’t, the advantage is against fast moving targets with thermal signature.

The ukrainian army is very far from having anything similar to doctrine and training that could only vaguely reminisce of the US Army and USMC units for which the javelin was made at first.

Less one forget, Ukraine has for many years had a very robust military armaments industry, and only just recently has Russias military quit being supplied by Those industries. Not to be forgotten is that Ukraine for years was first a Soviet allied, almost on an equal footing with Russia, and to this day not all ex-Soviet nuclear weapons been accounted for. US and Ukraine/Russia under payment by US did not actually destroy old warheads and middle bodies but dumped them In deep caverns and merely concerted over entrances, and this was done mainly in Ukraine and Russian Republics of Central Asia. So as to conventional weaponry, they have airport and older air defensive capabilities, helos are very susceptable, producing capable armored vehicles, and but lacking high tech add ons. By numbers of anti tank, and other advanced US small arms of NATO SPEC ammo, it appears Ukraine military is just arming a very massive and decisive first strike by no more than 5000 hard core assets, combined with the usual dumb as rock MAINLINE cannon fodder as shock troops. UKRAINE faces far less land mass to attack, and a non disciplined or well trained citizen malitia, than even half added Syrian Tiger forces had to contend with. I look for an elite fast moving strike force with both air and ground forces capable of turning either areas of resistance into parking lots for junk yards.
