US Troops Cut Off Route between Aleppo And Raqqa After Making Surprise Airdrop Near Tabqa - Unconfirmed

FILE IMAGE

Rumors are circuating tha the US Special Forces have made a surprise attack against the ISIS terrorist group west of the ISIS-held town of Tabqa after cutting across the Euphrates via boats and helicopters.

The US Special Forces allegedly seized the village of Abu Horaira and cut the Raqqah-Aleppo highway off.

Reports argue that some members of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (in other words the Kurdish People’s Protection Units) are also involved in the operation. However, there are serious doubts that Kurdish fighters could play some important role at the first phase of such a complicated operation.

If the advance is confirmed, this will be a major step in an effort aimed on isolating the ISIS-held area between Tabqa and Raqqah.

The control over Tabqa would also allow the US and its allies to prevent government forces from retaking areas in the province of Raqqah.

Big shanme for Russia. Americans defeat isis, free deir ez zor, take 2/3 of syria. Russia was not able to free latakia…

Trustin Judeau

Latakia is alright . Stop moaning .And most population is under the control of the Syrian goverment.

Solomon Krupacek

you were wrong in your predictions. until now is fullfilling my prognose. you will see, how wrong will be this for syria. because of purtins complexes.

Trustin Judeau

What is your prediction? Syria is fractured because Turkey and West funded jihadists rebels for years

john mason

Putin made a mistake and withdrew his forces last year when he had the terrorists under his thumb and the Yanks did not have bases in Syria. He should have finished the job and f*ck world opinion, who really cares what the world thinks anyway but since then countless Syrians have lost their lives and more infrastructure has been destroyed.

Trustin Judeau

I agree with this . I never liked the ceasefires and the partial withdrawal . And Turkey is playing dirty games .Now supporting HTT in Hama

john mason

That was a quick reply. Putin trying to stay within the UN resolutions and International Law when his enemies do not and that is a sign of weakness, in war you fight to win and not to make friends or forgive the enemy, Putin has been doing this with the US and Turkey. If Putin is playing them off against each other then he is playing a dangerous game because it is impossible to predict all potential events and results.

Trustin Judeau

SAA and Putin again got tricked . They thought after Aleppo everything is finished , It is not

john mason

This war in Syria has been ordained and put in action many years ago. Reagan negotiating with Russia to dismember the USSR had a hidden agenda and that was to take Russia softly, engage a US parliamentary system governed by US proxies. US has known for the past 50 years that it would require huge resources not just minerals and energy but fresh water, they have destroyed or used up much of theirs so Russia had to be conquered for its’ resources so that the US can survive and continue with its’ hegemony.

John Whitehot

never heard or read about that. Maybe you can read SAA or Putin’s mind?

Spunkyhunk

Well – you know what they say: Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice (or, in the case of Putin and SAA, “TRICK ME OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN”), shame on….!

VGA

I think it is because Assad and the iranians thought they could do whatever the fuck they wanted while Russia expended a lot of money and diplomatic efforts in the war.

Now you see that Putin is dictating what is happening and things are going well. The SAA would never be able to capture Raqqa, they still have not cleared Damascus after all these years. And the only reason Aleppo fell so quickly was because of Putin’s dealing with Erdogan.

So forget about dreams of capturing every corner of Syria, shut up and do what Putin tells you before you are overwhelmed by “moderate” rebels in the heartland while going after Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.

john mason

Spot on and Putin needs to engage some heavy artillery and not worry about destroying infrastructure. Russia has very reliable ground intel, the collateral damage is limited.

Corey O'Donnell

I think you’re probably correct in most of your assessment. It appears that the SDF/US coalition will take Raqqah and it very well might have been predetermined behind closed doors at the highest levels. The SAA has a massive insurgency on its hands and at this point any hopes by some factions to prevent the creation of large swaths of autonomous Kurdish territory should be dashed. The pseudo-alliance between the SAA/Russia and the SDF/US which has stopped Turkish advances has drastically changed the outcome in favor of the SDF and it wouldn’t surprise me if Putin has accepted this is a reality and is now himself finding inroads diplomatically and militarily with the Kurds to pave the way for future relations.

VGA

There was never a way for the SAA+allies to liberate Raqqa in a reasonable timeframe and with reasonable cost in lives and expenses. I think the goal was to get to that Tabqa airbase/town near the dam and have some kind of participation in the battle. This is what the SAA tried to do a few months ago when they advanced from Ithriya (when they erroneously thought the kurds would attack Raqqah very soon) but got routed.

But obviously USA today made sure that will not happen with their operation near the dam. They may want to create a puppet sunni state to the south of the kurdish territory.

dutchnational

The dam has, confirmed, been taken in a direct assault from the north.

Rest easy, there will not be a sunni state to the south of kurdish territory. Most likely, there will be another canton formed that at some time will join the Northern Syria federation on the lines of Manbij. It will be a majority sunni arab canton within a secular setting.

Phantasizing a bit, it might even be possible to imagining a DeZ canton.

Bill Wilson

I think Putin and the American generals worked out an arrangement for the SDF to eradicate ISIS from the regions bordering the rivers while the SAA wipes them out inside the Syrian Desert and their western positions. Then we may see the SDF move into the Syrian Desert to protect the oil and gas fields so the SAA can have more troops available to get after the rest of the extremist groups in Western Syria.

VGA

I can’t know for sure but the more territory that the SAA takes, the more bargaining power Assad and Putin will have in the future negotiations. So I don’t think the US want to see Assad consolidating his position.

Ronald

“To protect the oil and gas fields” , really means the US wants to seize them , to have and hold , cutting Syria’s income to nothing , not able to fund an army , never mind rebuilding .

Bill Wilson

Why would the USA want Syria’s oil? There’s only about 2 bil barrels in reserve and most of that is a very low grade heavy sour crude that’s half waste asphalt after being refined. The other 21 gallons yields around 11 gal. of kerosene, 5 gal. of mineral spirits, a few gal. of gasoline and the rest crappy lubricating oils. Syria exported most of that and brought in finished products instead. ISIS refined it in makeshift teapot operations to use the kerosene as diesel fuel which wound up ruining the engines fast due to it’s high sulfur content. The US military analysts noticed Daesh vehicles in their videos were starting to smoke badly for being rather new so figured that the idiots were using their own refined fuels and was best to leave their hidden refineries alone so they could continue the practice.

Ronald

Daesh , banked two billion trucking it across the border into Turkey in two years , so its more than chump change , even if half of it was Iraqi . Why is the US still in Iraq , there are no WMD , but there is still a lot of oil . If you have seen the Rand corp.’s map of Syria , the Raqqa – Deir Azzor , “International Administration Zone” , just happens to hold most of Syria’s oil fields along the river . Other think tanks have called the same area , “Sunnistan” , just a hundred thousand Christians to sacrifice in Deir Azzor . If the Kurds stop following orders , or the Iraqi’s drive them out , they still have a little “safe haven” from which to keep the neighborhood on fire . You might be right though , Putin and the US may have reached some deal , its just observable that once the US enters a country , they are there for a reason (“interests”) , and rarely leave .

gfsdyughjgd .

I like Putin but he make quick decisions which have negative impact on long run.Quik peace with Erdogan, quick agreement on S-400 dangerious never detecting system to Erdogan, quick ceasefires, quick withdrawal, quick terrorist relocation to Idlib but taking long to protect his reliable friends.Friends like North Korea,China,Iran,Libya Gaddafi died,Iraq Saddam died,Syria,Cuba and Venezuela.

john mason

It is disappointing looking at it that way, sometimes you can be too clever for your own good. Russia of old would have the war in Syria over by now and a lot of prisoners off to Siberia as forced labour helping in constructing the railways, roads etc..

Boris Kazlov

The Stalin way, long live STALIN!

The matters you refer to pertained about the situation around and in Aleppo, Putin could have deployed an airborne brigade in the proximity where the Americans first established an air base of sorts, however, that was not part of the strategy. SAA can move the two pincers north and south towards Racca, if the Americans dig in, they can bypass them and cross the Euphrates; After all, let US and their surrogates fight ISIS in Racca, street by street while SAA can create a strong position outside of Racca. I do not believe the US force will be terribly strong, maybe a few thousand, SAA and the Russians have the better position of internal lines of communications and supplies……and US does not like to take a lot of casualties.

Solomon Krupacek

another big russian stratgos arrived—

Bill Wilson

The SAA can’t even clear ISIS out of the Syrian Desert which is required to gain access to the roads leading up to Raqqa and Deir Azzor.

Jesus

Straggling ISIS units, or parts of the former units roaming the Syrian desert does not constitute a major threat to SAA advancing units with proper air support. How can you clear a desert of roaming rats, by chasing them all over the desert, diluting your forces that become succeptible to counterattacks? SAA should stay focused on their axis of advance and keep their forces concentrated within close proximity and keep advancing. ISIS is too weak in numbers and equipment to oppose them, therefore any successful counterattacks would have limited value and cause heavy casualties.

Boris Kazlov

i think that Putin’s erratic policy and peace -making with terrorists is a huge blunder, unworthy of a true chessmaster

The Rand partition map,….If** already conceeded to ( possibly different in outcome Than the Rand Map published) If so….Why expend effort and cost, …when Deir Ezzor City and Areas allocated To Assad will be given? Russia could prove the Map wrong by taking Deir Ezzor City and the important Oil nat/gas concessions south of Deir Ezzor City on the western reaches and East of The Euphrates. Assad could mobilize troops for this,…Iran could send troops (Temporarily ).. To secure that as leverage in future Geneva negotiations. Breaking up the Iran/Shia Crescent in article below makes sense that Empire And Israhell want this. https://www.rt.com/op-edge/381243-iran-mosul-iraq-us-trump/

Maybe Putin dissed Netanyahu over Israel’s Safe zone, Sort of. …”Your the primary reason all this insanity is going down,…screw your demands….you trouble us”. Putin’s got lots and lots of Jewish Oligarchs on his periphery… Part of the reason Donbass is painfully slow game turns as Oligarchs in Russia play cards against Euro bankers.

john mason

hate to admit but you may be partially correct, sad but true. Putin allowing too much leeway to the US.

Aung Naing

Putin is a grand master. We do not know what will be his next move.At least Syria will survive. Not like Iraq,Lybia.

Solomon Krupacek

latakia is not freed.l this is truth, spare me from you bullshits!

gfsdyughjgd .

I fully support this it is true what you are saying.Israel just do as their like Turkey just do as their like USA/NATO just do as their like.Poor tiger and Hezbollah are running around to re-inforce against hit and runing terrorist. The Russian oil and gas S400 and S300 containers are not detecting anything just waiting for Turkish stream oil and gas to fill up.Very demoralizing.

Caleb Da Silva Abi-Ali

”2/3 of Syria” = actually 90% of it is Desert. You know vast majority of syrian cities and syrian population are under control of the goverment.

Solomon Krupacek

yes? and then why do not have enough manpower, you “wise”???

Spunkyhunk

But the Omniscient Omnipotent Chessmaster Genius Putin achieved the “huge success” of “maybe” sometime in the undefined future (i.e., when hell freezes over!) getting Erdogan to become a card-carrying member of his Great Eurasian Axis With Iran, dontchaknow???

In addition, he also demonstrated what a “diplomacy-and-peace-loving, nice guy” he is, by forcing ceasefires and EVEN WITHDRAWING RUSSIAN FORCES ABRUPTLY whenever the Syrian-Russian side were about to eliminate a large body of jihadis, dontchaknow???

Pave Way IV

How convenient – five miles from the end of the runway at Tabqa Air Base. Not that the U.S. would have any interest in another illegal military facility on Syrian soil.

john mason

Government forces will tell the US to move over, not their country, not their fight or they will be forcibly removed. Can’t allow the US any room to maneuver or get dug in. May as well get it over and done with and just bomb the crap out of the US forces.

Mr. Perfect

You’re a dumb ass. The U.S and Israel would level Syria if they dared strike U.S forces. Syria would have done that months ago if they were going to.

john mason

cockhead

Bill Wilson

I’m sure both Assad and Putin are delighted to have the USA aiding the SDF since that frees up their resources to fight the extremists in the west.

gfsdyughjgd .

The more different players get involve more especially Turkey,USA/NATO and Israel the more ISIS attacks occurs.Russia must take over central command and forget about Turkish eye blind gas and oil pipeline.

King_GeorgXIII

they try to stop the SAA from taking Raqqa! Not gonna happen!

Dustil schmit

Who fault is it? Ithriyah-Raqqa offensive (June 2016) Poor planning and not caring for the region or taking it seriously.

gold37

That’s fine, SAA’s goal was to reach Deir Ezzor from two fronts, it would be silly to just try and get there from Palmyra.A political agreement would be reached, SAA has leverage, Afrin!

Thegr8rambino

So they will come at deir ezzor from afrin as well?

gold37

No, Afrin is the leverage they can use against the SDF on the East, SAA looked after the Kurds in Aleppo province for a very lobg time, in return, Kurds helped SAA in Nubl and Zahra when they were under siege.

Thegr8rambino

I thought sdf is helping them tho

gold37

Can never trust SDF, look at what happened in Hasakah last year for example, they attacked SAA in the area and dream of a Kurdistan is always their goal. They are friends now but their will be skirmishes which would be dealt with diplomatically.

Thegr8rambino

Well as long as they’re another problem for daesh and lifts some burden from SAA is fine by me lol

Thegr8rambino

These US special forces need to do something useful right now, like diverting attention away from the recent counterattack on Homs/damascus!!!
