On March 8, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group entered the Mediterranean Sea after passing the Strait of Gibraltar. The US military presence in the region grew as tensions are on the rise in Syria and Iraq following the recent US strike on Iranian-backed forces on the Syrian-Iraqi border and the increase in number of attacks on US supply convoys and military targets in Iraq.

I read on another site the other day that a russian kilo class sub was tailing this strike group, and that a US navy anti sub plane knew and was searching for it, right when those B52s flew in, I wonder whats the situation now

The strike groups moving to the Mediterranean sea instead of the Persian Gulf, which suggests Iran’s not going to be directly targeted, Syria and Iraq are the more likely targets if the carrier groups going to be sitting off the Israeli or Lebanese coasts. But the Makin Island carrier groups started moving too on January 11th, they left the African coast and started heading to their new area of operations in the UAE, they arrived there on Feb 18. But then suddenly on the 8th of March they started heading towards Kuwait, which as you all know is right next door to Iraq and as you’re also probably aware it’s also a safe harbor for the US carrier group. So we already have one carrier strike group located in the Persian Gulf just off the coast of Iraq right now, and then we have a second one approaching the area from the Mediterranean sea as well, so Iraq may soon become meat in the US sandwich. More worryingly the Makin island strike group has an amphibious element in it’s makeup, and they can put a Battalion of ground forces into action if they want to, so it may not just be an aerial and missile attack we should be expecting, there may be an element of ground operations included in any actions the US takes. The US may also decide to attack the Iranians in Syria as well, they could use the Eisenhower strike group to attack Syrian locations from the Israeli/Lebanese/Turkish coasts, which would allow the Makin Island strike group to focus on Iraq. The Eisenhower strike group would be able to provide missile support to the Making strike group from their location, and with Turkish permission also allow the Eisenhower’s aircraft to participate in aerial actions in northern and central Iraq. So I wonder why SF didn’t mention the Makin carrier groups sudden movements, which I would think are even more worrying than the Eisenhower carrier groups movements, or at the very least just as worrying.
