Uzbekistan’s state company Uzbekneftegaz is going to participate in the construction of the Afghan part of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) pipeline. This effort is reportedly to increase the current speed of the TAPI construction.

The construction of the TAPI, also known as Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline, started in December 2015. The construction of the Afghan part of the pipeline started in February 2018.
The 1,814-km pipeline will pass through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India. Around 816km of the pipeline will pass through Herat, Farah, Nimroz, Helmand and Kandahar provinces of Afghanistan. According to President Ashraf Ghani’s Office, the $22.5 billion USD project will be completed by 2019.
In the first ten years, Afghanistan will get 500 million cubic meters of gas from the project annually. This number will increase to one billion cubic meters of gas in the following ten years and 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas in the third 10 years after the completion of the TAPI.

It should be noted that the implementation of the TAPI project is complicated by the complex military and security situation in Afghainstan.
