Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez on August 30 warned the United States to stay away from Venezuelan coasts.
Tensions between the two countries have been mounting since the administration of U.S. President Trump ordered the deployment of a large naval force made up of seven warships, a nuclear attack submarine and some 4,500 service members, including 2,200 Marines, to Latin America and the Caribbean on a counter-cartel mission earlier this month.
The administration also doubled the reward for the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to $50 million on drug trafficking charges.
Speaking in Carabobo state, Rodriguez accused the U.S. of hostile actions for deploying a naval force close to the coast of Venezuela.
She directed sharp words at the Trump administration, telling them to solve their own problems and keep away from Venezuelan shores and territory.
Rodriguez then warned that if the U.S. attempts to attack Venezuela, the country would become their “greatest nightmare.”
She also denied the Venezuelan government had transformed into a “narco-terrorist state,” calling such accusations against the “noble people” of Simon Bolivar and Hugo Chavez a “great fraud and immorality.” Rodriguez went on to describe these allegations as among “history’s biggest lies and slanders.”
A recent Axios report revealed that even Trump advisors were not entirely sure whether the naval deployment near Venezuela is a drug trafficking operation with undertones of regime change, or a Caracas coup operation masquerading as drug enforcement.
The country has been taking the escalation very seriously, The Venezuelan military, which is heavily-armed, has already announced a “significant” drone deployment as well as naval patrols along the country’s Caribbean coast. The Bolivarian Militia of Venezuela has been also mobilizing thousands.
The U.S. stands to gain a lot from a coup in Venezuela, which has the world’s largest oil reserve. However, a direct military intervention could lead to a prolonged war as many in the country of 28 million appear to be willing to fight.

mexican here! as much as i don´t want an american intervention, the affirmation that the venezuelan people is ready to fight for its comunist leader is a misguided one. everyone in latin america hates maduro, even venezuelans, it´s sad to be in their position with the american war hawks on one side and their communist dictator in the other…
stop talking stupidty. if maduro was actually hated by his own people and wider latin america peoples, he would have been removed a long time ago.
you are one sad idiot with weak propaganda talking points.
he made sure of taking away the guns of his people long ago, then he took care of those loyal to the regime and armed them to the teeth, he took a prosperous country and made it a starving shithole. and… where you from again?
🇷🇺=🤡 😆😆😆
they will invade somehow. name any time in the last 70 years when did america cared if it lost a war ? engaging any forever war is its only intention until the earth stops spinning. any opportunity for war bankers and military corporations to plunder the american people and steal their wealth is absolutely irresistible. and must be completed at every opportunity. israel is also nations religion by law !
