On 7 July the Venezuelan armed forces downed another plane that violated its airspace
On Saturday, the Comprehensive Airspace Defence Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the Military Aviation neutralized an aircraft associated with cross-border crimes including drug trafficking, contraband smuggling and the insertion and extraction of paramilitaries.
The Venezuelan military command announced the incident through its Twitter account, reporting that the registration of the aircraft is of North American code under the registration number N515BA.

No other details were provided as to the location of the incident, the identity and condition of the pilot(s) or what the aircraft was carrying.
Almost a month ago the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb) reported that members of the Armed Forces Airspace Defence Command (Codai) neutralized another foreign aircraft with US registration for suspected drug trafficking after the aircraft entered Venezuelan airspace without authorization.
Venezuela is currently carrying out an intense campaign against drug trafficking, something that has been recognized by international organizations, despite the constant attacks and accusations promoted by the governments of the United States and Colombia. Last June, the United Nations Office on Drugs and the Crime presented a report, in which it was reaffirmed that Venezuela ranks fourth in the world in drug seizures and dismantling of laboratories to process cocaine. Just over a week ago, the US announced that it is offering a reward of $5m (£3.9m) for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Venezuela, Maikel Moreno. The US accuses Mr Moreno of participating in transnational organised crime. Mr Moreno rejects the allegations. He is the latest of many senior officials in the administration of President Nicolás Maduro for whom a multi-million dollar reward is being offered. The bounties have been shrugged off by the Venezuelans as absurd and unfortunate, but ultimately of no importance.
