The South China Morning Post has released a video showing the Chinese destroyer Luyang and a US Navy vessel on the brink of collision in the South China Sea.
The incident reportedly took place in an incident last month when the Chinese vessel stopped just yards away from the US one in the area located about 12 nautical miles off Gaven Reef.

In the video, an unseen US Navy serviceman is heard describing the Chinese ship “trying to push us out of the way”. Unarmed Chinese naval personnel are also seen on deck.
Such collisions between the Chinese and US navies have become common over the past few months as tensions between the two powers are heating. The South China Sea is an obvious hot point in relations between the US and China.
This is fine. But this is not the ancient world with gallies ramming each other on the high seas. I would much prefer it if the Chinese used their anti-ship ballistic missiles
You mean the Dong Feng – 41’s. Supersonic, and as its coming close to its target, it hovers at about 3-5 meters above water, for a most devastating effect on target ship.
it hovers at about 3-5 meters above water,
and come one siperwave and is smashed :))
You don’t know very much do you?
i know enough for to find out, that hypersonic missile CAN NOT fly 5 meters over sea.
Who said anything about hypersonic?. These sea skimming missiles are supersonic or sub sonic. And I have seen animated videos , and yes, they hover right above sea level, designed to hit ships at just above the water line for maximum damage.
all of you discuss about hypersonic missiles in this thread.
btw., animated tales do not interest me. real life vids yes. but there is nothing real. so, these weapons do not exist.
Yes that’s the one. Better than ramming by far.
Both ships are under control, calm sea and 45 yards apart, no intension of ramming each other = near collison?
I really dont hope that SF came up with that headline, Because that just sounds like US MSM
I See that scmp news thought it was a near collision, just kinda disappointed that SF used that description
SCMP is as right wing as any, and love to make the Chinese government look bad.
I did not know that, thanks
Yes a naval war with China would certainly spur American ship building. The war against plastic floating in the Pacific might be more useful, but a hard sell, they would have to educate Americans first.
The Chinese could pretty much weld missile launchers and other systems on their thousands strong super cargo tanker ships in no time at all. They could saturate the Pacific. Also, Chinese Warships are being cranked out at an alarming rate. Its full speed ahead in China. Any U.S. ship within 2500km of Chinese territory has to face down the Dong Feng-41 anti-ship supersonic missiles. Who knows what they have come up with since.
you dream

and 99% of dreams ended with fiasco.
