A Su-27 fighter jet has intercepted and escorted a US RC-135 spy plane over the waters of the Baltic Sea near the Russian border, the Russian Defense Ministry said on March 7.
A video released by the defense ministry and distributed by RT shows how the super-maneuverable Russian fighter aircraft approached the RC-135 reconnaissance plane and secorted it. No details on the time of the engagement were revelaed.
Over the past year, the US and NATO states have drastically expanded their reconnaissance activity along the Russina border. In response, the Russian Aerospace Forces frequently scramble jets to intercept and escort foreign planes away. These actions often cause the dire criticism from the US and other NATO countries. They describes Russian actions as ‘unprofessional’.
