The head of the Wagner PMCS confirmed control of the eastern part of the city of Bakhmut. Earlier, Ukrainian sources confirmed that Ukrainian positions in the eastern district s of the city were lost.
Evgeny Prigozhin claimed that all the areas to the east of the Bakhmutka River came under full control of Wagner units. The Russian mop up operation in the buildings on the eastern bank of the river was likely completed. In their turn, Ukrainian forces continue strengthening their defences on the western bank of the Bakhmutka River, despite the growing threat of the upcoming full encirclement of the city.
Almost 50% of Bakhmut came under Wagner’s control.
After they secured their positions in the east of Bakhmut, Wagner fighters are enlarging their zcontrol zone, securing roads towards the Sobachevka district in the south and towards the Non-ferrous Metals Plant in the north of the city.
Fighting is ongoing on the southern outskirts of the city near Independence Street, as well as in the southwestern district near the Lesnoye cooperative and the MiG-17 Stella.
In the western districts of Bakhmut, fighting is ongoing on the city outskirts and in the village of Khromovo. To the west of Khromovo, Wagner units approached the road to the Chasov Yar which passes through the village west of Bakhmut. The highway is under Russian fire control, which complicates any exit of Ukrainian forces from the city.

At the same time, the Ukrainian command continues to partially withdraw troops from the city along field roads under constant artillery shelling and air strikes.
According to preliminary data shared by Russian military sources, the 80th separate Amphibious Assault Brigade, the 1st mechanized Battalion of the 67th Mechanized Brigade, the 21st Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade, as well as two mechanized battalions of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered the heaviest losses while trying to get out of the city. The total losses of these Ukrainian units, including killed and wounded servicemen, since March 1 exceed 500 people.
In the areas of the villages of Bogdanovka, Krasny and Khromovo, Ukrainian assault groups continue their attempts to counter attack in order to secure the last road from Bakhmut to Chasov Yar and Konstantinovka. Additional reinforcements are transferred to the area.
The Ukrainian military is also reinforcing their groupings around Bakhmut. The AFU is preparing a second line of defense along Slovyansk – Kramatorsk – Kostyantynivka – Toretsk line. Significant reinforcements with reserves are transferred there. At least 12 brigades are reportedly concentrated in the area, including in Siversk. Some of these units have already taken part in the battles for Bakhmut and suffered heavy losses.
After the complete encirclement of the city of Bakhmut, Ukrainian forces may launch new counter offensive operations, attacking Wagner units from the flanks. Head of the Wagner PMC Prigozhin has already warne that if there are no coordinated actions of forces of the PMC and the Russian Defense Ministry, it will become increasingly difficult to hold the flanks against the AFU’s attacks.

Not clear why Russia is putting so much effort into attacking within the city. Wouldn’t it be better to concentrate on fully encircling it while suppressing fire from UAF units within it?

It is impressive how the NATO military is clearly acting even in command of Ukrainian battalions, nothing to hide about this is in fact a Russian war against this military alliance that aims to break Russia apart. Now let it be clear that these foreign military when taken prisoner must have a very different method of interrogation than those where even thought is harvested. There is a country an ocean away that urgently needs an all-out war on its pristine territory, it is exactly the country that has been involved in virtually every conflict since World War II.
