Russian Malka in action
On May 27th, the town of Liman returned its name and became Krasny Liman (Red Estuary). The name was changed within the Kiev’s “decommunization” campaign. Krasny Liman was one of the first cities that were captured by the Ukrainian Army with heavy fighting in June 2014.
Today, the DPR forces have established full control over the town. The reports were confirmed by the headquarters of the territorial Defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic as well as by the Armed Forces of Ukraine who confirmed the loss.
“As of May 27, 2022, a grouping of the DPR and the LPR troops with the fire support of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation liberated and established full control over 220 settlements, including Krasny Liman.” – the report reads.
The clashes in the area broke out weeks ago, when the Russian military took control of Yampol. Amid fierce resistance of the Ukrainian units, Russian-led forces entered Liman from the north on May 23rd. On May 26th, first reports on the Russian control over the town came from the area. The mop up operations continue in the villages and forests to the south of the town.
It is not clear if the AFU units were able to cross the Seversky Donets River to reach the other bank or not, as the bridges in the area were destroyed, including bu the retreating Ukrainian forces.

On the LPR front lines, fighting continues on the outskirts of Severodonetsk. Russian-led forces attack the AFU positions in the city from several directions. Russian units are advancing from their positions in the villages of Voevodovka and Shchedrishchevo. Fierce clashes reached the bus station in the eastern district of Severodonetsk. Russian forces also storm the town of Borovskoe to the south of the city.
The Russian control over the town of Voronovo located to the south-east of Severodonetsk is expected to be claimed in coming days.
On May 26, the first reports on fighting in the city of Lisichansk were made by the Chechen assault units.
One of the main battlefields in the Donbass reached the front along the Seversk-Soledar-Bakhmut-Toretsk line. The joint Russian-DPR and LPR forces are advancing from the east. They have already cut off the road between Bakhmut and Lisichansk in Belogorovka and Nahornoe. The last Ukrainian stronghold to the east in Zolotoe is almost surrounded. In the direction of Lisichansk, fighting is going on between Toshkovka and Gorsky, as well as in the Ustinovka area.

In the Izyum area, no significant advances by any of the warring sides have been reported for the last few weeks. there are battles south of Dolgenky and in the Studenok area. The mop up operations continue.
To the north of Popasnaya, fighting continues in the area of Nyrkovo, Vrubovka and Kamyshevakha. In the direction of Bakhmut, fighting continues for the Artemovsk-Lisichansk highway in the area from Soledar to Nagorny. The AFU units are attempting to counter-attack and repel Russian forces from their positions along the strategically important road, so far to no avail.

Along the Artemovsk-Popasnaya highway, the fighting for Pilipchatino continues. The Russians are advancing in the Pokrovsky and Klinovo areas in an attempt to encircle the AFU grouping. Over the last days the villages of Krinichnoye, Roty, Vozrozhdenie, and Mednaya Ruda fell under DPR control.
After Russian-led forces took control over the city of Svetlodarsk, clashes broke out in the area of local power plant. The AFU fortified their positions on its territory, threatening to blow up the dam.

On the Donetsk front lines, fierce fighting for Avdeevka continues. The DPR military has recently claimed that the heavily fortified area and the large indurtrial zone of the town will not be stormed, but surrounded.
The DPR battalion Somalia and other units supported by Russian forces are advancing to the eastern outskirts of Avdiivka from Novoselkovki-2 and Novobakhmutovka. So far, the DPR units have managed to secure a foothold along the route to Konstantinovka.
At the same time, the joint forces are advancing from the south-eastern direction, from the village of Spartak. Clashes reached the industrial zone, which has been the scene of heavy clashes for 8 years.
Front lines in the Kharkiv region, as well as in the southern regions of Kherson and Nikolaev remain unchanged. Positional battles continue.
On May 26th, more Ukrainian servicemen were found hiding at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin claimed. According to him, it is still impossible to say with certainty that there are no AFU servicemen or nationalist militants left on the territory of the plant. He clarified that the remnants of the AFU do not pose any threat. However, it will be possible to assert that there is no one left at Azovstal only after the DPR units check everything, clear mines, and clear all the rubble.

What are they using to hit the tanks with and are the shoulder-launched weapons effective? It seems if the Russians have any view on AFU ground vehicles and shelling stations they are shortly neutralized by air units so has the AFU now realized that staying hidden and using jungle-style warfare their best option?
