Almost all front lines in Ukraine are currently inflamed by positional battles. The Armed Forces of Ukraine were stopped in the Kharkov and Kherson regions. At the moment, they are regrouping preparing for other large-scaled attacks. Reinforcements of the AFU are reported in the Kharkov, Kherson and Zaporozhie regions. In turn, the Russian military are shelling Ukrainian military positions, reinforcing their defences awaiting for the deployment of the recently mobilized servicemen.
Near the town of Kupyansk, the AFU continue their attempts to develop the offensive towards the settlements of Pershotravnevoye and Yagodnoye in the Kharkiv region. Failed attacks also continue in the area of Tavolzhanka. So far, Ukrainian forces have gained no success and are suffering heavy losses.

On October 8, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that t”wo reinforced battalions of the AFU attempted an offensive in the direction of the settlements of Pershotravnevoye and Yagodnoye in the Kharkiv region. All attacks of the AFU were successfully repelled by units of the Russian troops. More than 100 Ukrainian servicemen, two tanks, five infantry fighting vehicles and four cars were destroyed.”
In addition, as a result of massive strikes on the advancing Ukrainian troops in the area of the settlement of Petropavlovsk in the Kharkiv region, more than 110 Ukrainian servicemen of the 14th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 19th battalion of the Defense were destroyed.

In the area of the Oskol water reservoir, the pace of Ukrainian offensive has significantly decreased. The AFU continue the mop up operations in small villages securing their stronghold on the left bank of the river. Ukrainian servicemen have recently crossed the border of the LPR and claimed control of the village of Stelmakhovka located 15 kilometers to the north-west of the town of Svatovo.

The main target of the AFU in the north-eastern front lines is the road between Svatovo and Kremennaya. The Russian military continue military supplies along the highway which is still under the Russian control but is shelled by the Ukrainian artillery. Russian servicemen are waiting for the Ukrainian offensive, reinforcing their defences in the towns of Svatovo and Kremennaya as well as in the small villages along the road. According to some Russian military reporters, up to 40 Ukrainian militants and foreign mercenaries are deployed along the LPR border.
In the area of Krasny Liman, the 208th regiment of Russian Cossacs is defending the town of Dibrova (or Krasnaya Dibrova) which has recently come back under Russian control.
Several battalions of foreign mercenaries, which include US, British, Polish, Arab and French servicemen, were deployed near the towns of Novoplatonovka, Kirovsk and Liman.

At night, the AFU shelled the town of Starobelsk in the LPR with HIMARS MLRS. The target was the temporary accommodation point for civilians. The attack on civilians was carried out with shrapnel munition. Kiev forces attempted to kill as much civilians as possible. Fortunately, the building was empty at night. All the refugees were evacuated from the town.

In their turn, Russian-led forces continue their offensive on the Donbass front lines. Fighting is ongoing on the eastern outskirts of the town of Bakhmut (Artyomovsk). Wagner servicemen have recently taken control of the territory of the Asphalt Plant in the industrial zone of the town. Russian assault groups advancing on the south-eastern outskirts of the town. The front lines in the Zaporozhie region remain unchanged. Artillery duels continue without any advances by any of the warring sides. Ukrainian forces continue reconnaissance missions by small groups. So far, to no avail. They suffer losses, including in foreign mercenaries. LINK.
Ukrainian forces are reinforcing their positions preparing for a potential offensive. In turn, Russian warplanes and artillery are shelling Ukrainian military columns and points of concentration of manpower.

In the Kherson region, the AUF tried to storm Russian defensive lines in the Pyatikhatka—Polyanka area, but were stopped by the Russian army and lost several pieces of equipment and manpower. Also, the Ukrainian army tried to advance on the right bank of the Dnieper from the village of Dudchany, so far to no avail.
