The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue developing their offensive on the Donbass frontlines. Ukrainian units cannot stop retreating west of the Donetsk urban agglomeration.
The battle for Kurakhovo gains momentum. Destroying the last Ukrainian strongholds in the city center, Russian forces improved their positions both on the northern and southern flanks.
Russian bridgehead on the northern bank of the water reservoir is rapidly expanding. According to preliminary reports, the village of Solntsevka came under Russian control after weeks of prolonged battles. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation broke through Ukrainian defense and approached the local small Strashny river on the western outskirts of the village. Both Russian and Ukrainian military sources confirm that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost control of at least 90% of the village.
North of Solntevka, Russian forces took control of the village of Zarya.
Ukrainian forces tried to throw explosives at the house with Russian soldiers in Annovka (Gannivka) but they were timely elliminated:
Russian victories in Solntsevka and Zarya allow the Russian military to straighten the front and continue its offensive to the west with simultaneous attacks from several directions. Russian assault on Petropavlovka may begin in the nearest future. This is the last Ukrainian stronghold before the Pokrovsk-Constantipol road, which was cut by Russian advance near Pokrovsk but is still largely used by the Ukrainian military for supplies on a wide front. Russian advance puts even more pressure on the Ukrainian garrison that is trying to resist in and around Kurakhovo.
At the same time, Russian forces launched assault on the village of Shevchenko. According to the reports from the battlefield, Russian armored groups broke through Ukrainian defense along the Solenaya river west of Stary Terny and entered the village. Ukrainian military command has reportedly redeployed some units from the northern fank of the Kurakhovo direction to the area of Velika Novoselka and as a result Ukrainian defense was weakened.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are still resisting in Kurakhovo and Uspenovka in an attempt to slow down Russian advance, while their engineering units are hastily reinforcing defense to the west.
