Believing that Russia is a “paper tiger” is a dangerous delusion. Even at it’s weakest point (during the 1990’s) Russia had the capability to eradicate the USA in the space of a single hour. Russia is much stronger today and if push comes to shove (i.e, Hillary is elected) Russia will not be deterred by the prospect of US/NATO retaliation – Russians will die on their feet before they will consent to live on their knees. Accept this and act accordingly, or die.

Dream on ‘Robert’. I’m not Russian. Never said I was. I am a 5th gen. US citizen, worked in the Nuclear Power and Defense/Intelligence contracting business for 30 years in Silicon Valley (California). I have a fair understanding of US/NATO and Russian tactical and strategic military capabilities and of the nuclear technology that we will soon use to destroy ourselves if we are not careful. I’m not trying to scare anyone, just trying to inject some reality into the hysterical dialog that is circulating recently.

Russian conventional military technology is in general at least a generation (10 years) ahead of ours: tanks, aircraft, EW, anti-aircraft anti-missile defense. In a conventional war, Russians will be in Berlin and Paris in a matter of weeks. Going nuclear is hopeless, because we have absolutely no effective defense against Russia’s ground and naval strategic missile fleet. Worse, Russia (and China) have active civil defense programs (Russia’s drill this year sent 40 million citizens to the shelters) to preserve some of their population; the USA has deep underground Continuity of Government shelters to preserve a tiny remnant of specialists and elite; the EU and UK have nothing. Assuming no Global Nuclear Winter (a lousy assumption), Russia and China will survive, we will not. The closest thing to victory we can hope for is that no one survives.

But keep up the tough talk, if it makes you feel better. The coming war is probably beyond stopping at this point, and when it comes it will end your suffering in a single hour or less. Until then, I wish you whatever solace your arrogance can bring you.

A missile defense system is also a terrible way to use the military budget in a nuclear war, but you didn’t actually know that did you? Seriously the cost of making more missiles than can possibly be stopped is way cheaper.
