With Defeat Nearing In Pokrovsk, Ukrainian Troops Are Surrendering Or Attempting To Flee (Videos)

On November 7, the Russian military expanded its control in Pokrovsk in Donetsk as Ukrainian troops began making desperate attempts to flee from the key city and nearby Myrnohrad in small groups.

In its daily briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the 2nd Army, a part of the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces, made gains in the eastern part of the Tsentralny neighborhood and on the territory of the industrial area to the west. It added that Ukrainian troops were cleared from Gnatovka and Rog, with 45 buildings captured in the last 24 hours.

Eleven Ukrainian attempts to break the blockade on troops in Grishino were also repelled by the Tsentr Group of Forces, according to the ministry.

“Ukrainian militants of the AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) 32nd Mechanized Brigade with support of a tank attempted to break through the encirclement to the north. As a result of a precise FPV drone strike, a Ukrainian T-72 tank was destroyed. The enemy’s manpower was suppressed by small arms and artillery fire,” the ministry said.

It added that the 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade as part of the 51st Army captured 24 buildings in Myrnohrad, also known as Dimitrov, and advanced in the Zapadny neighborhood.

Just a day earlier, pro-Ukrainian German Bild journalist Julian Röpcke admitted in a post on X that Russian troops “reached the most northwestern, most northeastern, and most northern points” of Pokrovsk.

Video footage showing Russian troops casually removing Ukrainian obstacles from one of the streets of the city surfaced online on the same day.

Despite the critical situation in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, Kiev is yet to issue a withdrawal order to its troops in the two cities. Still, many troops have begun fleeing in small groups. Recent videos show Russian artillery and drones eliminating one such group.

Meanwhile, more Ukrainian troops are surrendering to the Tsentr Group of Forces. The Russian MoD recently released the testimonies of three such soldiers.

One of the soldiers, Dmitry Nevmyvako, revealed that Ukrainian troops can barely move in Pokrovsk without being quickly targeted.

“As many as 60% [of soldiers] get killed, and making it to the positions is very hard,” Nevmyvako said, noting that the command prohibited Ukrainian troops from communicating with civilians.

“We were told not to let them near us … and go so far as to kill them whenever they approach,” he added

Nevmyvako was living and working in Dnepropetrovsk when he was snatched off the street and forcibly mobilized into Kiev forces.

“He received training in theory from Ukrainian instructors who had been trained in Great Britain, as mercenaries from Colombia were training on adjacent grounds. Dmitry just needed a couple of days to flee the army, and his mother had worked out an arrangement with an acquaintance to help her son out, but Dmitry was taken to the frontline earlier,” the Russian MoD said in a statement attached to the testimonies.

Nevmyvako also revealed how Kiev forces spread propaganda about minimal losses, apparently to justify the decision to keep troops there.

“Lots of drones are flying around, make a move, from one bush to another, and a kamikaze drone can take you out – just like that,” he said.

“We were told that there are no losses or that they are minimal. But we could see how many casualties we were taking as we went,” he concluded.

All in all, Ukraine may be just a few days away from losing the battle in Pokrovsk. Thousands of Ukrainian troops who are still fighting in nearby areas, especially Myrnohrad, will likely end up captured or killed. Kiev’s only plan to deal with this whole situation is to buy more time, and ask for more support from its allies in the West.
