Witnesses Of Atrocities Committed By Kiev Forces In Kursk Testified At International Teleconference

Last week, an international teleconference entitled “Liberation of Kursk Region” was held, organized by the Delegation of the Russian Federation to the Vienna Negotiations on Military Security and Arms Control.

Participants from 20 countries joined the conference to hear a detailed analysis of the invasion of the Kursk region by Ukrainian militants and their crimes on Russian territory, including from direct witnesses.

The main theses were voiced by Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large for Crimes of the Kiev Regime of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

• More than 200,000 civilians can be considered to have suffered to varying degrees from the “Kursk adventure of the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine]”. More than 155,000 civilians have been forced to evacuate alone.
• The number of dead and injured civilians in Kursk is still preliminary: 1,241 civilians are considered casualties, of which every fourth person is dead.

• To a large extent, the “Kursk adventure” was developed as a PR project in support of Democratic United States Presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

• The “Kursk adventure” could not have been realized without Western foreign support. The AFU was provided with a large amount of foreign-made military equipment, and the military underwent special training in Great Britain and other European countries. The development and realization of the invasion took place with the use of foreign intelligence information and satellite tracking.

• About 2,300 people remained in the territory controlled by Ukrainian militants. All of them witnessed the atrocities of the AFU.

• All the buildings that the militants had reached were subjected to rampant looting without exception. Later, the looted settlements were set on fire along entire streets, either by dropping incendiary mixtures on them from drones or by going around and setting fire to the buildings with hand-held flamethrowers.

• In the village of Russkoe Porechnoye in Kursk, numerous corpses of civilian residents with signs of torture, sexual violence and violent death were found in the basements of private houses. Eight women had been raped and then killed with shots to the head. A total of 22 corpses were found there.

• In the village of Makhnovka in Kursk, investigators found the bodies of nine civilians with signs of violent death in residential houses and in the surrounding area. Most had been shot at point-blank range.

• In the village of Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in Kursk, the bodies of four civilians with signs of violent death were found in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

• In the village of Plekhovo, less than 20 of the approximately fifty remaining inhabitants survived to liberation. In Russkoye Porechnoye, no one survived.

This information was also confirmed by Elena Zhadanova, head of the Porechenskoye Village Council:

“At the time of the invasion, there were 92 people remaining in the territory of the rural council. In the first months, 10 residents miraculously managed to get out alive. Just so you understand, mostly elderly people remained there, who did not want to leave their homes…

By March 2025, at the time of the liberation of the settlements Russkoe Porechnoe and Cherkasskoe Porechnoe, out of the 81 survivors (after those 10 who left)… as of today, 48 are known to have died, 24 people are listed as missing”

“According to the inspection of bodies removed from the territory of populated areas, it is visually evident that they were subjected to torture. On the bodies, there are traces of electric shocks, broken arms, legs… open fractures of limbs, broken rib cages.

They killed people by families. They threw grenades into the basements. Men tried to save their loved ones there. They covered these grenades with their bodies, but after that, they [AFU] threw additional grenades in there. After waiting for the smoke to clear, they went in and finished off the wounded. They did not give anyone a chance to survive.

Women left in the villages were subjected to violence. In total, not a single person from the village of Russkoe Porechnoe survived.

They shot people in the backs. A woman born in 1941. She was walking down the street. Two shots in the back. Today, I want to ask, who were you shooting in the back? Why? What could this grandmother, who had lived since birth in this village and met her death there in such a terrible way, possibly have done to them?”

Among the victims of AFU crimes who spoke at the event was Elena Drugova, a resident of the village of Novoivanivka in Kursk. She stated that Ukrainian fighters shot her in the legs and then laughed at her as they watched her try to crawl away.

Nikolai Kozlov, a resident of the village of Plekhovo in Kursk, also testified. He spent 4 months under Ukrainian occupation. The AFU mined a water well, as a result of which he blew up together with two civilians and was seriously wounded. He witnessed killings and abuse by Ukrainian fighters.

It was stated at the event that the criminal acts of the Ukrainian formations in Kursk, as well as the political leadership of the Kyiv regime, should receive a fair international legal assessment and that the guilty should receive the punishment they deserve.

The Russian law enforcement agencies are conducting a thorough investigation of all crimes committed in Kursk by AFU fighters and foreign mercenaries.

To date, the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened more than 480 criminal cases. 186 criminal cases have been sent to the courts, 87 have been considered by the courts. Sentences have been passed against 162 persons.

Facts of torture, indiscriminate shelling, looting and obstruction of evacuation of civilians have been documented. Previously, Kiev used the “victim image” on the international stage, but the attack on civilians in Kursk has finally debunked this lie.
