Yemeni Fighters Win Back Center of Taiz Province from Pro-Saudi Troops

Remarkable advances against the pro-Saudi troops were made by the Houthi-Saleh alliance and the popular forces in the heart of the province of Taiz, a Senior Commander of the Ansarullah movement, Hossein al-Houthi, said on Friday. According to the Commander, strategic regions of the province were recaptured by Yemeni soldiers.

“The Yemeni forces won full control over government buildings in the center of Taiz province,” al-Houthi said.

He also noted that the pro-Saudi forces suffered heavy losses as a result of attack of Yemeni fighters in central Yemen.

“The Yemeni Army and Ansarullah fighters have killed at least 200 pro-Saudi forces and seized back 20 villages,” the Senior Commander added.

On September 28, Yemeni soldiers launched a massive attack on the Saudi border city of Najran, Senior Commander of the Ansarullah movement, Ali al-Hamzani, told the Fars news agency. As result, the Houthi-Saleh alliance took control over a strategic military base there, and killed several Saudi commanders.

“The Yemeni Special Forces targeted two Saudi Army’s vehicles in the kingdom’s Najran province, killing three Saudi commanders,” al-Hamzani said.

He also noted that the Nahuqa key military base was brought under control of the Houthi-Saleh alliance, as well as the city of Najran was besieged from different directions.

On September 26, a retaliatory artillery attack against the Abadiyah military base in the kingdom’s southwestern province of Jizan was launched by the Houthi-Saleh alliance. As result, at least four Saudi soldiers were killed.

At the same day, the Saudi military base of Bahtit was hit by Yemeni artillery shells in the same province. The attack was a response to Riyadh’s relentless airstrikes on Yemeni civilians.

Also on September 26, Saudi fighter jets struck Nihm district, east of the capital, Sana’a, and Dhubab in the southwestern province of Taiz. The kingdom’s warplanes also pounded the districts of Razih, Munabbih and Baqim in the northwestern province of Sa’ada.

No-one makes any maps on this war, so this information is, as ever, hear’say (and don’t link the fucking Wikipedia thing).

I’m reading that back in 1978 Ali Abdullah Saleh was the Commander of the Ta’iz Military District when he was elected President by the Constitutional Assembly,. maybe history is repeating itself, as it often does, in fact I personally hardly ever notice anything else.
