The Houthis (Ansar Allah) showcased a number of anti-ship missiles during a military parade that took place in the western Yemeni port city of al-Hudaydah on September 1.

The parade, called “The Promise of the Hereafter,” was held by the Houthis’ 5th Military District. Several ground, aviation and naval units of the district took part in the large parade that was attended by senior leaders of the Houthis, including the chairman of the group’s Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat.

During the prepared, the Houthis showcased the Faliq-1 single-stage solid-propellant, supersonic anti-ship ballistic missile for the first time.

The new missile appears to be a scaled-down version of Iran’s Khalij Fars, which has a range of up to 300 kilometers. Just like the Iranian anti-ship missile, Faliq-1 appears to be equipped with an electro-optical seeker. The exact specifications of the missile are yet to be revealed.

The Houthis also showcased the Chinese-made C-801 subsonic anti-ship cruise missile, which they had renamed into Mandab-1

During the uprising of 2015, the Houthis seized an unknown number of C-801 missiles from the Yemeni Navy stockpiles. The missile has a range of 42 kilometers and is guided by an active radar seeker.

The Mandab-2 subsonic anti-ship cruise missile was also showcased during the parade. The missile is thought to be an Iranian-made Noor, a copy of China’s C-802. The missile has a range of 170 kilometers and just like the Mandab-1, it is guided by an active radar seeker.

The Houthis also revealed that they have reactivated Soviet-made 4K51 Rubezh costal defense systems they seized from the Yemeni Navy early on in the war. The group showcased two missiles for the system, the export versions of the P-15U and the P-15UT. The first is guided by an active radar seeker, while the second via an infrared homing seeker. Both missiles have a range of up to 80 kilometers.

Several types of naval mines, multiple rocket launchers, anti-tank guided missiles and dozens of attack drones were also showcased during the large parade.

The military parade in al-Hudaydah was held amid a ceasefire sponsored by the United Nations. The ceasefire entered into effect on April 2 and was set to end on June 2. Nevertheless, it was extended two times, first until August 2 and then until October 2.

Speaking at the parade, al-Mashat warned the Saudi-led coalition, its backers and its proxies that the Houthis can now hit any target in the waters around Yemen.

“We can now strike any target in the sea from anywhere in Yemen, not only from the coast,” the Houthi leader said. “We developed our land and naval weapons recently, and they can now hit their targets at any point in our country from land or sea.”

The Houthis, who control most of the western Yemeni coast, refrained from using their anti-ship missiles for the last few years, likely to avoid a major military escalation. The group’s parade in al-Hudaydah appears to be more of a threat to the Saudi-led coalition.

Cut off the tongues.

If they can be delivered fresh, I will pay $60 a tonne.

For 10 tonnes or more, the price can be discussed.

Will serve them as a delicacy to my pigs.
