DPR will start “clearing the whole territory of Donbas from Kiev’s occupation” and withdraw from the Minsk peace deal in case of a NATO accession attempt.
“If Ukraine begins preparing a referendum on joining NATO or other procedures, then the DPR will immediately withdraw from the Minsk agreements and start clearing the whole territory of Donbas from Kiev’s occupation,” the Donetsk news agency quoted the head of DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko.
The DPR’s leader added that he is sure that many other Ukrainian regions in this case will leave it.
On Monday, at the joint news conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenber , Poroshenko stated that Ukraine needs to prepare for accession to NATO. It’s a major aim of the Kiev authorities.
Stoltenberg welcomed Poroshenko’s efforts:
“NATO can rely on Ukraine and Ukraine can rely on NATO. Our partnership is already very strong and today we took steps to strengthen our partnership even further.”.
