The adoption of the law “On Oligarchs” could lead to the flight of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Russia, Oleksiy Honcharenko, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity party (Petro Poroshenko’s faction) claimed.

The politician believes that the bill turns Ukraine “into a monarchy under the leadership of Vladimir the First.”

“This is a lot of corruption. The NSDC, and in fact – Zelensky himself – will decide who is bad and who is good. And it will start right away: if you don’t want to be bad, then take a suitcase of money and carry it to Bankova,” Honcharenko claimed.

The parliamentarian expressed the opinion that the law will allow influencing the media so that they do not cover how “the government is robbing the country.”

“Vladimir Alexandrovich, I want to remind you one thing, that all this will not work in Ukraine and will end with one thing – Rostov,” the Rada deputy mocked.

Honcharenko also noted that the bill was adopted without waiting for the conclusions of the Venice Commission, since its initiators knew that the Europeans “would never be able to support such a thing.”

Earlier, the Ukrainian parliament, at the initiative of the president, adopted a law “On oligarchs”, according to which the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) will make a decision on recognition as an oligarch and maintain a special register.

Previously, on September 18th, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that Kiev needs to put things in order at home on its own, and not listen to experts from Europe in regard to the same law.

In early July, the Ukrainian parliament, at the initiative of the president, adopted in the first reading the draft law “On oligarchs”, according to which the NSDC will make a decision on recognition as an oligarch and maintain a special register.

The deputies submitted more than 1200 amendments to the document for the second reading, the Rada plans to consider it during a new session. Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova wrote a letter to Parliament Speaker Dmitry Razumkov, in which she stated that the presidential bill “On the Oligarchs” contradicts the Constitution of Ukraine and violates human rights, and therefore cannot be supported.

On September 15, the Venice Commission accepted the Ukrainian bill for consideration.

Danilov said that Kiev does not need to be guided by the decision of the Venice Commission in this matter.

“I’m not going to find out what the Venice Commission is – I don’t care. We need to live with our own mind. And to put things in order in our house on our own,” he said.

According to him, “experts who have already advised us from all over Europe what to do and how to live, have led to the fact that we have lost the Crimea”, as well as the conflict in the Donbass.
