Zelensky's Presidency Is An "Interesting Anecdote": Head Of Ukrainian President's Office

From the first day of the election of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, a situation has reigned in the country, which can be called an “interesting anecdote,” or in other words, a joke.

This opinion was expressed bb the head of Zelensky’s office, Aleksey Arestovich.

Russia’s Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev published an article in which he explained why he considers contacts with the current leadership of Ukraine senseless.

It contains, according to the definition of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, “five short polemical theses.”

In particular, he does not see any point in negotiations with the Ukrainian authorities, since these are “ignorant and unnecessary people” who are constantly changing their position.

“From the first day of Zelensky’s election to this day, the internal Ukrainian opposition has accused the president and the entire team that they are surrendering the interests of Ukraine in favor of Russia, and the Russians say that Zelensky is not making progress. We [The Kiev government] are not interesting in talking because there appears to be no result, “Arestovich said.

The adviser to the head of Zelenskiy’s office also lamented that Russia is ready to restore diplomatic and economic ties, but does not want to discuss Crimea.

Earlier, Zelensky expressed a desire to hold a one-on-one meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, believing that it could be very productive. At the same time, he believes that the Russian leader’s entourage is trying to prevent this.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the president was never against such a dialogue, but it is necessary to decide what they could discuss, while there are no prerequisites for negotiations by the end of the year.

Relations between the two countries deteriorated in 2014 amid the situation in Donbass and the return of Crimea.

Kiev and its Western allies have repeatedly accused Russia of interfering in the internal affairs of Ukraine. Moscow has also repeatedly emphasized that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict, and the question of ownership of the peninsula is completely closed.
