Ukraine
The representative of the President of Ukraine in the Cabinet Andriy Gerus insisted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky didn’t specifically promise to reduce tariffs in his election campaign.
Rather, Zelensky just made a joke saying that the Rotterdam+ formula was a “corruption scheme,” and that the tariffs were too high. According to Gerus, no promises were made.
“Zelensky did not directly promise to reduce tariffs, although he understands that this is a problem. If you listen to what the president said in the video about tariffs, there he stated the need to increase gas production, investment, stop gas imports and export development. Then the price gas in our country will fall by 20-30%, and maybe more,” Gerus said.
“Zelensky joked about Rotterdam + that it is a corruption formula. But he did not give direct promises. Of course, people want to see what they want to see. The fact that people supported him means that they are ready to vote for some big idea, dream, future, rather than just a reduction in tariffs. If we have higher salaries, then tariffs may not be such a big problem,” Gerus said.
The representative of the president in the Cabinet of Ministers stressed that prices for heat and gas have certain restrictions by the IMF.
“The policy and position is such that it is necessary to continue cooperation with the IMF. Our GDP growth is not such that we can be independent and say that we can continue to develop and cope without them,” Gerus concluded.
As of June 11th, Ukraine got a new head of Foreign Intelligence Services – Vladislav Bukharev. Notably, he has a medal from combat cooperation from the Russian Federal Security Service – FSB.
In the ‘current complex political situation’, he said he wasn’t proud of it. He received the medal at an early stage in his career after an operation against drug trafficking.
In 2018, Anton Herashchenko a member of Ukrainian parliament, accused Bukharev of being a puppet of a Russian and runaway Ukrainian oligarch, namely Konstantin Grigorishin.
Regardless, Bukharev is part of the Yuliya Tymoshenko faction and it appears that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is beginning to implement agreements between him and the former Prime Minister on the division of seats. Tymoshenko’s faction is expected to receive several ministerial seats, on top of one of the power structures.
Also, in Ukraine, in Dnieper (Dnipro), a woman was found selling grenades in an underpass.
The woman was selling F-1 grenades, with a fuse, completely ready to be utilized. When police discovered that the woman was selling the grenades, she told them that a Dnieper resident was interested in the illegal possession of weapons.
So, after the merchant was arrested, police searched her house and found two RPG-26 grenade launchers wrapped in a carpet.
It should be reminded that earlier a large batch of shells was discovered near Dnieper. Almost a year earlier a man was detained, who had come in with a grenade launcher into public transport.
The situation with Ukrainian T-84 Oplot battle tanks is less than rosy, as well.
The Oplots were advertised in 2014 as better than the Russian T-72, T-80 and T-90, Viktor Yanukovich was blamed as trying to stop the modernization of the Ukrainian Armed Forces so that the “external aggressor” can invade easily.
Five years later, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have between 8 and 10 Oplot battle tanks, since there is mostly nobody to produce them.
On June 11, it was officially announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not plan and do not plan to purchase the Oplot T-84, since the Ukrainian military industrial complex is not in a position to replace part of the components for the tank, which are manufactured in Russia. The Kharkiv Malyshev Plant was unable to carry out the work that was carried out at the Russian military plants until 2014 as part of the military-industrial cooperation. Of course, this explanation does not explain why, until 2019, the MOU and various speakers associated with the Poroshenko government fed the population with stories about the “best Ukrainian tank,” which would defeat the “Russian aggressors.” Now it turns out that without the “Russian aggressor” the advanced Ukrainian tank is simply impossible to produce.
Separately, it appears that the newly-established autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine is also under threat, but not by any external actors, but rather by one of its founders.
On June 11, Patriarch Filaret, the head of the non-canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kiev Patriarchate (UCO-KP) and the honorary Patriarch of the OCU said that he is not accepting the tomos granted by Constantinople.
“We are not accepting this tomos because we have known nothing about its content. If we knew, we would not vote for an autocephaly on December 15. It’s not needed to move from one dependency to another”, he said.
The Baltics
The 7th Free Russia Forum took place in Lithuania on June 10th. Political emigrants as well as guests from Ukraine and the Baltic states gathered to discuss ‘democracy issues’ in Russia.
The meeting concluded that a street in Toronto should be named after Boris Nemtsov.
The list of “enemies to democracy” was expanded by 28 individuals, from advisers to Russian President Vladimir Putin – Valentin Yumashev, Dmitryi Sablin, the founder of the “Antimaidan” movement, Andrey Romanchenko, General Director of the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network to Aleksandr Zharov, the head of Roskomnadzor.
The “Putin’s List” project is described as a “truly civil undertaking, aimed at determining the circle of people responsible for the current state of affairs in Russia.”
It includes:
1. persons belonging to the political, military, judicial, economic, informational, business top of the current Russian regime and responsible for violations of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Russian laws, international law:
– planned aggressive, criminal, corrupt actions,
– they were developed,
– their financiers
– committed them,
– providing information and misinformation support,
– otherwise contributing to their perpetration;
2. other persons who committed actions that led to the murder of tens of thousands of citizens of Russia and other countries, the destruction of the constitutional legal order in Russia, the suppression of civil liberties and political rights of Russian citizens, the creation of a semi-totalitarian regime in Russia, an unprecedented flourishing of corruption in Russia, isolation of the country from the states of the civilized world.
The list is separated into 12 groups, from “Chieftains” to simple “Accomplices,” naturally Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev, Ramzan Kadyrov and others are on it.
It seems that some forces are very “concerned” over the state of “democracy” in Russia.
Bulgaria
On June 8th, Bulgarian authorities arrested a 16-year-old “jihadist,” who was allegedly recruited by ISIS and had components to construct a bomb and carry out an attack in Plovdiv, the current European Capital of Culture for 2019.
According to Interior Ministry sources, the boy recently succumbed to “Islamic radicalization” due to unknown reasons. It is presumed that his radicalization happened after he went on websites with “special content.” The 16-year-old is now roaming free, but is under monitor from the Committee for preventing anti-social behavior.
This marked the first potential terrorist attack stopped in Bulgaria. The boy’s rights were also violated, since Bulgarian media “somehow” discovered his identity and disclosed it in reports.
According to reports, the boy’s family reported his radicalization and now they’re being harassed by “pseudo media and its pseudo journalists.”
It is also unclear “whose idea” it was to announce the arrest of a radicalized 16-year-old at a press conference.
Moldova
Tthe ACUM [the electoral alliance of DA and PAS, and the Șor Party] and the Socialist Party (SP) of President Igor Dodon are slowly gaining an upper hand in the ongoing political crisis in Moldova.
So, the Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM) and Pavel Filip (was the prime minister in the previous DPM-formed government) controlled by oligarch Vladimir Plakhotnyuk used their secret weapon.
Today we adopted the decision to relocate the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. It was a long overdue commitment to support our allies. https://t.co/LJWnXtWMOy
— Pavel Filip (@filip_pavel) June 11, 2019
On June 11, Filip claimed that Moldova is moving the embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Filip’s government also adopted the agreement to sell the land plot for the construction of a new US Embassy compound.
It should be noted that the so-called Filip government is no more legal. The ACUM and SP won elections in February 2019 and recently formed own government. Nonetheless, the pro-oligarch DPM is refusing to surrender its power.
Most likely, Filip & Co see the decision to move the embassy as a tool to get Israeli and therefore US support in the ongoing political crisis.
