All sides of the Syrian war use various version of anti-aircraft guns in the ground combat. The ZSU-23-4 Shilka is one of the most popular and effective of these self-propelled anti-aircraft guns.
The ZSU-23-4 Shilka is a lightly armored Soviet self-propelled, radar guided anti-aircraft weapon system. Considering that Western-backed militants don’t have the air power, the Syrian government forces use it against the enemy manpower.
I have noted that they usually only use 2 guns at a time. the use of 4 guns rocks the tank. Obviously they are interested in getting more hits on target.
