Late on October 12, ISIS cells launched a large attack from al-Badia, a vast desert in central Syria, on the southern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
ISIS terrorists attacked several positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies in the areas of al-Dwair and al-Asharah near the town of al-Bukamal, which is located on the Syrian border with Iraq. The terrorists clashed with government forces for several hours before withdrawing to their hideouts in al-Badia.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, nine SAA soldiers and pro-government fighters as well as three terrorists of ISIS were killed during the attack.
Three civilians who were passing near the positions of the SAA and its allies when ISIS cells launched their attack, were also killed.
“The death toll could rise as many of the wounded are currently in a critical condition,” the London-based monitoring group said in its report.
If the number of casualties is confirmed, this will be ISIS’s deadliest attack in central Syria in several weeks. The terrorist group’s previous attacks took place in the eastern Hama countryside, the eastern Homs countryside and the western countryside of Raqqa.
ISIS’s new attack will likely be met with a fierce response from the SAA and its allies. The army could opt to launch a new comping operation around al-Bukamal with support from the Russian Aerospace Forces.

ISIS cells? Oh please. It’s the IDF-by-proxy, not some sort of miraculously mutating superhuman organization
