Clashes erupted in the area of Spartak northwest of Dontesk in eastern Ukraine on January 11.
According to local sources, pro-Kiev troops attempted to advance on the positions controlled by forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The attack was suppored by mortar and artillery fire.
In firefights that took place late on January 11 and early on January 12, some 2 soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were killed and 3 injured.
Kiev denies this incident.
