Around 890,000 refugees can return to Syrian in the coming months, Head of Russia’s National Defense Control Center Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev said on August 3.
“According to data provided by the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, about 890,000 civilians are expected to return to Syria in the coming months,” the official said at a meeting of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters supervising the return of refugees, according to the state-run media.
According to Mizintsev, Lebanese regional refugee centers have received around 10,000 applications from Syrian refugees willing to return to their motherland.
“Lebanon’s government has established a working group to set up a joint committee on cooperation with Syria in matters concerning the return of refugees,” he said. “Lebanese regional refugee centers have reported receiving about 10,000 applications from Syrian citizens willing to return to their home country.”
Mizintsev added that the Jordanian government is also employing active measures to facilitate the return of refugees to Syria.
“The government of the Hashemite Kingdom has taken a number of steps which have encouraged more than 200,000 Syrian citizens to express a wish to return to their places of permanent residence. All this is happening amid the Syrian army’s successes in regaining control of the country’s border with Jordan,” Mizintsev noted adding that ten crossing points have been set up and started operating in Syria.
According to remarks by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, 1.7 million people expressed the desire to return to Syria.
Great positive news! If there still is a home that is. US, SA, France, Turkey, GB and so on are obligated to donate billions to rebuild the proud and once was beautifull Syria!
You forget Israel and Saudis on the bill note ! Turkey is doing a good job in Syria, and didn’t destroy anything.
SA = Saudi Arabië and Turkey is one of the countries responsible for causing the war and keep it going
Like I said before, and will keep on saying, the best way to end the Syrian refugee crisis is to end the Syrian war. Not prolong it, as the West seems hellbent on doing for these past years.
The war was prolonged by wealthy Syrians that were making money off all factions engaged in the fighting. They were able to do that by being politically connected with the government in Damascus. The fighting didn’t start winding down until they were put out of business.
