Saryat Ansar Abu Baker As-Siddiq, a militant group believed to be linked to al-Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for the recent attack on a Turkish military convoy in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.
The attack took place in the southwestern outskirt of Idlib city on March 13. The convoy was struck with an improvised explosive device which had been planted by the group’s cells. At least one vehicle was damaged.
In a brief press release, Saryat Ansar Abu Baker As-Siddiq said that the attack was carried out to avenge Ahmad Yassir al-Abed, a child who was shot and killed by Turkish border guards while he was playing near his house in northern Idlib earlier this week.
Saryat Ansar Abu Baker As-Siddiq has been active in Greater Idlib since November of 2020. The group’s cells attack Turkish troops in the region on a regular basis.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense didn’t report any causalities in the recent attack near Idlib city. However, local sources claimed that several Turkish soldiers were injured.
The attack will not likely be the last. The Turkish military is currently redeploying its positions in Greater Idlib to protect its troops. This move will not likely help as jihadists are active across the region, especially near Turkish posts.

algeria has conflict w US supported morocco imperialism in Sahara.
Yes, but this is Africa we talking about. They don’t really need SU-34 or even less SU-57 against Morocco. Those jets are bought ( will be bought) because of Libya (US, UK, French aggression) Algeria is weary of US color revolutions, regime changes and bombings in the name of the peace and democracy.
Looks like the Turks Jihadi wild child has thrown a tantrum https://media0.giphy.com/media/VI3Nlc2bkS7NMs3eVi/giphy.gif
Not a very successful IED by the look of it, definitely wouldn’t have killed anyone in an armoured vehicle.
