Al-Qaeda Militants Claim They Killed 20 Syrian Soldiers In Northern Lattakia

At the early hours of December 26, militants of the Wa Harid al-Muminin operations room launched a hit and run attack on several positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northern Lattakia countryside.

“A raid by Wa Harid al-Muminin operations room on al-Assad’s militias in the Kurd mount, as a result more than 20 were killed and dozens others were wounded,” Abdullah al-Muhaysini, an infamous scholar of al-Qaeda, said on his official Telegram channel.

A military source denied al-Muhaysini claims and told the Syrian Sham FM radio station that the SAA foiled an attack on its positions in the villages of Nakhshiba, Ruysat al-Malik and Ayn al-Qantra. According to the source, Syrian service members managed to kill most of the attackers.

Last month, the SAA repelled a similar attack by the operations room in the northern Lattakia countryside killing five terrorists, some of whom were wearing explosive belts.

The al-Qaeda-affiliated groups of Jamat Ansar al-Islam, Horas al-Din, Jabhat Ansar al-Islam and Ansar al-Tawhid formed the Wa Harid al-Muminin operations room earlier this year. Since then, the operations room has been working to sabotage the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement.
