In the afternoon of February 25, the main battle began in the city of Mariupol on the Sea of Azov. The mayor of Mariupol confirmed that fighting broke out in all directions. Russian tanks were recorded 15 kilometers from the city.
Joint forces of the DPR, LPR and Russia take their positions to trap Ukrainian forces, and clean the city from the units of the Ukrainian nationalist battalions that are deployed on the Donetsk-Mariupol frontlines.
Forces of the DPR are taking an active part in the offensive. The fighters of the People’s Republic have taken control over a number of villages on the defense lines of Ukrainian units near Volnovakha. They managed to break through a complex of fortifications established by the UAF in the area and advance up to 20 km.
“Our units are moving in the direction of Mariupol, bypassing Volnovakha, there are losses, but surprisingly insignificant, taking into account the expected opposition and the degree of fortification of the enemy. Today we managed to advance several kilometers, the resistance is weaker than yesterday.” – the DPR military official reported.
The 53rd UAF brigade which is one of the best equipped Ukrainian units deployed in the Donbass is trying to repel the joint forces in this area. The brigade consists of a lot of former residents of Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk.

The DPR sources reported that the nationalist formations forbid civilians to evacuate from Mariupol and Volnovakha and use them as a human shield. The residents were repelled from their houses into the basements and nazi militants occupied their apartments.
The artillery of the DPR troops does not hit cities, targeting powerful enemy fortifications. The UAF and nazi batallions deployed the heavy artillery as close to the residential areas as possible. Locals are sharing the positions of the UAF, including near civilian facilities like schools, on social networks. The UAF are firing from MLRS from the center of Mariupol.

Meanwhile in Russia, Chechen servicemen are preparing for departure to Ukraine. It is reported that Ramzan Kadyrov mobilized about ten thousand fighters. They should be reportedly deployed in the southern Ukraine. Chechen servicemen have recently participated in the large military excercise in Crimea.

Mariupol could get difficult. Maybe Russian forces could get those tanks and fortifications wiped out by precise drone strikes. I fear those forces there could go after the population if they get desperate enough. This could be a weak spot for Russia. I understand that the main goal is to get them to surrender and stop the bloodshed at once. But the longer they need the more difficult it will be.
They are surrounded. And the Chechnians are going to go in and do the dirty work. They have been itching to demonstrate to the world and their enemies in the middle East.

Well, Ukraine used their drones in the first 2 minutes at the beginning of the Russian special military operation. But they were just to darn difficult to fly with all those missiles coming right at them. So they lost them all :-( They also took them Javelins out but they proven to be not that useful against incoming Kalibr either :-(
