Early on February 24, President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has officially launched a special operation to enforce peace in Ukraine.
According to the televised speech of the Russian leader, the goal of the operation is to protect LPR and DPR residents (earlier DPR and LPR officially requested military help from Moscow) as well as demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
“Circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate action.”
“The People’s Republics of Donbass turned to Russia with a request for help. In this regard, in accordance with Article 51, part 7 of the UN Charter, with the sanction of the Federation Council and in pursuance of the friendship treaties ratified by the Federal Assembly and mutual assistance with the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, I have decided to conduct a special military operation.”
Putin emphasized that the goal of the operation is “is to protect people who have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years, and for this we will seek to demilitarize and deNazify Ukraine, as well as bring to justice those who committed numerous bloody crimes against peaceful residents, including citizens of the Russian Federation,” Putin said.
MEANWHILE:
- Airspace all over Ukraine has been restricted for civil flights, according to a notice to airmen (NOTAM) distributed by local agencies and airport operators
- Local media and sources report ‘explosions’ in southern, eastern and central Ukraine. It seems that Russia have may conducted precise strikes on military infrastructure, weapon depots and command centers of the Kiev regime. (These reports are yet to be officially confirmed)
- Local outlets from DPR and LPR also report that artillery units have been active at the contact line.

Don’t know if those explosions around Ukraine are from Russian strikes or not. However, Russia could very easily do it, considering the drone technology they have, and cruise missiles. After having listened to actually reporters etc. on the ground, I thought this was forthcoming. Rember Putin’s speech about to the slaughter in Odessa. He promised the ppl the perpatrators would be brought to justice. He cannot afford to not make good on his word. More broadly speaking, in geopolitical terms, Russia cannot allow a rabid-dog country just next to its doorsteps… Yesterday, 23.02. was the Day of the Red Army. Fitting in a sense.

One U.S. Goal appears to have been betting the farm upon enticing Putin into occupying Kiev with ground forces in order to offload Ukraine debt onto Russia and not themselves. I don’t think Moscow is going to let them off the hook for that.

I’m quite shocked to be honest, Putin was always a chess player IMO, now he’s playing Russian roulette. Risking everything he achieved, Russian foreign reputation and domestic stability, and for what? What is his exit strategy here? Or there will be no exit, just install a puppet government and keep them occupied forever? First, it costs too much. Second, how can you keep at least 20 mil hostile people under occupation? This intervention is 8 years too late… he should have intervened to restore Yanukovich.

My thoughts here are Zelensky was attempting to construct a ‘dirty’ bomb. Hence the fighting around Chernobyl and the haste of Russia to accomplish key military objectives so rapidly. If so, what foreign assistance was being given to the NeoNazi Kiev junta?
