According to preliminary reports from Ukraine, Russian forces entered the town of Terny located on the northern Donbass frontlines.
The Russian military reportedly launched a heavy attack on the Ukrainian military positions in the area of Terny and Yampolovka and managed to break through Ukrainian defense. As a result, the Russian assault groups reached the outskirts of the town of Terny. The reports are yet to be confirmed by any footage or official claims.
Ukrainian positions in the region have been steadily deteriorating in recent weeks. The area east of Terny was inflamed by heavy pronged Russian attacks in the forests from their stronghold in Kremennaya. The Russian advance was complicated by absence of any settlements to hide in the area; but despite the severe resistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian troops managed to reach the outskirts of the town.
The battle on the streets are likely yet to begin, but the presence of Russian military on the outskirts marks the upcoming beginning of the battle for Terny.
The town is an important stronghold of the AFU on the northern Donbass frontlines, which was used for military supplies to the entire Ukrainian garrison deployed on the eastern bank of the Zherebets River.
The ongoing Russian offensive operations in different directions along the entire frontlines force the Ukrainian military to deploy large forces in different regions in an attempt to prevent the Russian military from significant advances. As a result, the AFU cannot accumulate large reserves in one area because they cannot predict the direction of the next Russian massive attack.
