On May 31, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) operations room in the western Daraa countryside known as “Saad al-Bughat” announced that FSA fighters had attacked three key positions of the ISIS-affiliated Khalid ibn al-Walid Army around the town of Hayt.

The Saad al-Bughat operations room claimed that FSA fighters had killed seven members of the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army and had captured several light weapons and a thermal sight during their attacks.

The FSA launched a similar attack on a position of the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army around the village of Adwan, near Hayt, on May 20. However, the ISIS-affiliated group repelled the attack and killed ten FSA fighters, back then.
Earlier this month, Syrian opposition sources reported that several FSA groups in southern Syria are planning to launch a large scale military operation to eliminate the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army in the western Daraa countryside.
However, the FSA launched a series of limited hit and run attacks only and failed to capture any positions from the ISIS-affiliated group. Thus, some observers qestioned the real goals of the FSA “war” on ISIS.
