From Kyiv To Mykolaiv: Russia Shifts Strikes To Logistics Hubs In Southern Ukraine

On the night of September 9, Russian armed forces conducted a series of strikes against military facilities in eight regions of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack involved Iskander-M ballistic missiles, S8000 Banderol loitering munitions, and 196 attack drones.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that the strikes targeted military industrial facilities, seaports, vessels, and logistics centers used to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Kyiv Region

• A warehouse at a Kyiv facility producing uncrewed surface vessels and fixed-wing drones, along with components for them.

• Warehouses and workshops of Euro Food Service LLC (Bila Tserkva).

• A Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 fighter at Vasylkiv airfield, destroyed by long-range drones.

Mykolaiv Region

Logistics Centers and Terminals:

• Metro logistics center.

• ATP YUTK logistics center.

• Nova Poshta logistics center.

• Mykolaiv-2 logistics center.

• Elektrotekhnika logistics center, used to store and distribute drones and spare parts.

• Deleveri logistics center.

• Nibulon logistics center.

• A UAV storage facility at the Konveirmash industrial site.

• A warehouse terminal operated by Dimetra.

• Zhovtneve warehouse terminal: six fuel and lubricant storage tanks and five military cargo warehouses destroyed.

Port Infrastructure:

• Trykhaty electrical substation, which supports operations at the Port of Mykolaiv.

• Port of Mykolaiv: four fuel and lubricant storage tanks and one military cargo warehouse.

• Nika Terra cargo terminal: three fuel and lubricant storage tanks and three military cargo warehouses destroyed, along with a UAV production workshop and storage facility.

Odesa Region

• A tugboat escorting ships into the Port of Odesa.

• A cargo ship en route to the Port of Odesa carrying military supplies.

• The Tudor–Starokozache international border crossing on the Ukrainian–Moldovan border: checkpoint infrastructure and surrounding area damaged; operations temporarily suspended. This marks at least the fourth attack on Ukrainian international border crossings in the past two weeks.

Strikes were also conducted against targets in Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Chernihiv, Rivne, Cherkasy, and Poltava regions.

Ukrainian Strikes on Russia

On the night of Sept. 9, Russian air defense forces intercepted 596 Ukrainian drones over 12 Russian regions.

Novy Urengoy (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug)

An attack was reported on the Novy Urengoy gas condensate processing plant, a major facility that processes oil and gas condensate, with a design capacity of 19.5 million tons of feedstock per year and part of Gazprom Group.

Krasnodar Krai

• Novorossiysk: Four people, including a child, were killed in the Ukrainian drone attack. Twenty-nine others were injured, three of them in serious condition. Three private homes and five multi-story residential buildings were damaged, along with an Orthodox church and a kindergarten. Preliminary reports indicate a fire broke out at a fuel oil terminal.

• Gelendzhik: The area saw the largest and most prolonged drone raid. The attack damaged an electrical substation, causing power outages in several neighborhoods. According to Ukrainian sources, a Su-33 carrier-based fighter, a Mi-8 helicopter, and two radar systems (a Kasta 2E2 and a 92N6 radar, part of the S-300/400 air defense system) were destroyed in the Gelendzhik area.

• Sochi: A large-scale attack on the port continued overnight. Strikes by uncrewed surface vessels caused a fire along the waterfront, with eight people reported injured.

The exchange of strikes on September 9 continued a pattern of attacks on logistics, port, and energy infrastructure on both sides. Russia reported hitting warehouses, terminals, and transport hubs used to supply Ukrainian forces in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions. Ukraine, in turn, claimed strikes on infrastructure in Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik, including naval assets, aircraft, and radar systems. The attack on Novorossiysk resulted in civilian casualties and a fire at a fuel terminal.
