On October 13, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) recaptured the strategic Rahjan village in the northeastern Hama countryside from ISIS, according to the HTS-linked news agency Iba’a.
15 ISIS members were killed by HTS during the recapture of the village, according to the report.
Iba’a added that HTS fighters killed 2 fighters of ISIS while securing a farm in Bayud village. HTS fighters also captured a Metis-M Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) launcher and 3 missiles, according to Iba’a.
Meanwhile, Syrian opposition sources said that a suicide bomber of ISIS targeted a checkpoint of HTS on the entrance of Abu al-Duhur town in the southwestern Aleppo countryside. Iba’a confirmed the attack, and said that only 2 fighters of HTS were injured in it.
Furthermore, opposition sources claimed that HTS commander in the northern Hama countryside “Abu Yusuf Halfaya” was severally injured in an assassination attempt on October 12.
Abu Yusuf Halfaya was reportedly targeted with an IED while he was driving his car on the Jabal Barisha-Ras Elhisn road in the northern Idlib countryside. So for HTS has not confirmed these claims.
ISIS likely avoided claiming responsibility for any of the attacks that targeted HTS in Idlib governorate in the last few days in order to maintain the limited public support it got in the governorate.
