Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham Reorganizes Its Forces Into Three Armies

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has reorganized all of its units in northwestern Syria in three newly formed “armies” named “Abu Bakr,” “Uthman” and “Omar,” the Syrian Step News agency reported on September 30.

A source familiar with the situation told the pro-opposition news agency that a military commander of HTS known as “Mukhtar al-Turki” was behind the idea of forming these three armies. According to the source, al-Turki wanted to integrate HTS fighters who recently withdrew from Eastern Ghouta, Northern Homs and southern Syria.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that the formation of these armies is one of several steps HTS is taking before announcing its stand on the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement on the government of Idlib.

Syrian opposition sources revealed that an internal disagreement has emerged between the “moderate” and “radical” wings within HTS leadership over accepting or rejecting the deconfliction agreement.

The fact that the radical wing within the HTS is against the agreement and these new military measures suggest that the radicals are preparing for war, not for peace.

Last time I read about them Al Nusra had about 10.000 fighters. That’s barely a division. Divided into three that’s basically 3 brigades. But then again Al Nusra loves to rebrand itself with lofty names, and I reckon that the X, Y and Z armies sound more magnificent then the X, Y and Z brigades. Maybe for additional delusion of grandeur their commanders should be named field marshalls X, Y and Z as well.

These US hard core terrorists have been trained by US, UK and French advisers in Idlib against Syrian nation. That is why the US and Co advisers free hand opperate there in Idlib with these hardcore terrorists. This is the answer.

Nosferatu

They can even create muslim wehrmacht, but it will not stop Russian army to send them to Mohamed via short route…..

Barba_Papa

They should name it the Muslim Wehrmacht. We all know how decisively the Russians defeated the previous Wehrmacht.

Jim Bim

No matter how many times they change their names, regroup or reorganize…..they will always be terrorists.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

think of it this way, they have divided themselves for SAA already, so now SAA can just conquer :)))

Smaug

Even the radical factions of the rebels have their moderate and radical sub-factions, why am I not surprised….

Empire's Frontiers

If they divide into boom-bus and terror-truck factions, the jihadi horde will be self-moderating as the radicals carry out their orders one by one, one after the other.

Eventually only moderate jihadis will be cleaning their AKs.

Sinbad2

Just like the 911 rebels had factions?

Empire's Frontiers

It must’ve occurred to them, or was suggested by a hissing turk, that jihadis can’t have a proper internal war without requisite competing factions.

It’s only fun if there are at least two teams on the field.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Probably just on 3 different payrolls now, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and a few more, not so sure about Qatar though. Divide and conquer that’s the best strategy, oh hang on, they’ve already divided themselves, and without outside intervention, that shows us just how clever they really are, not very.
