Hezbollah carried out another wave of attacks on March 7, targeting Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) sites and settlements in northern Israel.
In three separate statements, Hezbollah announced that its forces shelled a newly-established field headquarters of the IDF near the settlement of Liman with artillery, fired rockets at an Israeli artillery position in the al-Za’oura site and targeted the Ma’aleh Golan barracks with two suicide drones.
The group said in two other statements that it fired a salvo of Katyusha rockets at the Afdoun settlement and targeted gatherings of Israeli troops in the settlement of Metula.
In two more statements, the group announced rocket attacks against the sites of al-Radar and Rwaysat al-Alam.
The attacks were carried out in support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah noted in its statements.
Additionally, the group’s Military Media released video footage of a recent attack with an Iranian-made Almas optical-guided missile that targeted a vehicle of the IDF in the Birket Richa site.
The IDF said that rockets and guided missiles were fired from southern Lebanon towards the settlements of Rosh Hanikra, Ya’ara and other locations along the border. Nine rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense systems. No casualties were reported.
In response to the attacks, the IDF carried out airstrikes on buildings used by Hezbollah in the southern Lebanon towns of Aitaroun and Ayta al-Shaab a short while ago.
It also announced that it had struck another Hezbollah building in the town of Matmoura and an observation post in the town of Jebbayn overnight.
Lebanese media said that a civilian man was killed in additional Israel strikes that targeted the town of Dhayra. Hezbollah also mourned a fighter, saying in a statement that he was killed “on the road to Jerusalem,” a phrase used to refer to those killed in the current confrontation with the IDF.
Hezbollah and its allies have been launching attacks from southern Lebanon against the IDF since the outbreak of the war in Gaza.
So far, the clashes on the border have resulted in seven civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 300 people have been killed, including 219 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 50 civilians.
