Hezbollah Launches Rockets At Four Israeli Military Sites

On March 9, Hezbollah targeted four border sites of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from its heartland, southern Lebanon.

In three separate statements, Hezbollah said that its fighters fired a Burkan heavy improvised rocket at the al-Baghdadi and shelled the sites of Ruwaisat al-Qarn and Zabdin with other types of rockets. In another statement, the group announced that it launched rockets at a gathering of Israeli troops in the Honen Castle site.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted in its statements.

In response to the attack, the IDF said that it shelled one of the rocket launch sites used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. It also announced that a series of strikes were carried out against Hezbollah sites in the southern Lebanese towns of Labbouneh and Ayta al-Shaab last night and in the early morning.

In a separate incident, Lebanese media said that Israeli troops opened fire at a joint patrol of the Lebanese military and United Nations forces as it was moving on a road between the towns of al-Hadb and al-Rahib in southern Lebanon. No casualties were reported.

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

So far, the border clashes have resulted in seven civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 300 people have been killed, including 222 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 50 civilians.
