Syria has emerged “victorious” in the “universal” war which was waged against it, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hasan Nasrallah said on May 13.
“Syria emerged victorious at the end of a universal war. It has survived a scheme which aimed at dividing it. Of course there still are some regions like Idlib that are not liberated but in all Syria has triumphed,” Nasrallah said in a speech, according to the al-Manar TV.
The Lebanese leader made his remarks during a televised speech commemorating Hezbollah’s commander Mustafa Badreddine, “Zoulfikar,” who was killed in Syria four years ago.
In his speech, Nasrallah touched on the recent reports of a Russian-Iranian conflict on Syria, saying that these claims are a part of the “continuous psychological war against Syria.”
“Iran is not engaged in an influence war with any side, neither with Russia, nor with any other country. Its goal is to prevent Syria’s fall in hands of US and Zionist entity,” he said.
The reports about the supposed Russian-Iranian conflict on Syria coincided with Israeli claims that Iranian forces were withdrawing from Syria.
Nasrallah refuted these claims, saying Iran has only military advisers in Syria. The leader also slammed Israel’s defense minister for lying and fabricating victories.
“The Israelis lose the war in Syria, and they have been targeting all what is related to missiles manufacturing in Syria, because they believe that missile pose high risk to Israel,” Nasrallah said, adding “The Israelis believe that Syria poses risk to them and they are concerned over the presence of Iran and Resistance movements there.”
The Lebanese leader also confirmed that Hezbollah forces are still deployed in Syria; however, on a scale smaller than before.
Nasrallah’s remarks reaffirm Hezbollah’s commitment to support the Damascus government in a time when military and economic pressure is increasing on Syria and its allies.

The US and Israel always claim any flights between Iran and Syria must be carrying something nasty, and they probably do some times, but at a time when Iran’s not making any money and shipping men and equipment out of Syria, it makes me wonder how reliable those reports are that you read. And as to Russian aircraft operating out of Iran, I didn’t know they’d stopped, but I’d still like to know where you read that story, because I wonder if they were actually helping Iran move equipment from Syria back to Iran.
