On November 5, Hezbollah launched another series of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from southern Lebanon.
The group said in three separate statements that its fighters had attacked the military sites of Jal al-Deir, Misgav Am, Al-Dhahra as well as the Avivim barracks with artillery shells, rockets, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) and other heavy weapons.
In two other statements, the group said that a vehicle and a gathering of troops at the Bayad Blida site were targeted with ATGMs. Hebrew media said that at least one was wounded in the attacks on the site, without clarifying if he was a soldier or a civilian.
The IDF said that it launched strikes on southern Lebanon in response to the attacks, but didn’t provide any details.
Earlier, the IDF announced that the Iron Dome air defense system had intercepted a drone “deep within Lebanon”. Videos taken near the town of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon showed the wreckage of an unidentified drone, which was most likely launched by Hezbollah.
Hezbollah acknowledged during the day that two of its fighters were killed. Two Lebanese first responders were also wounded after their ambulance was targeted by an Israeli combat drone near the town of Tayr Harfa.
Clashes on the Lebanese front broke out following the October 7 Hamas-led surprise attack against Israel. Hezbollah and its allies have been launching attacks against the IDF ever since.
A day earlier, Hezbollah shelled several IDF sites and targeted a gathering of Israeli troops. The group released footage showing some of the attacks.
As of November 5, the clashes on the Lebanese front have claimed the lives of eight Israelis -six soldiers and two civilians- 59 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, seven Palestinian fighters -three from the Hamas Movement and four from the Islamic Jihad- and seven Lebanese civilians -two shepherds, a teenager, two elderly men and two journalists-.
