An Israeli airstrike killed a fighter of Hezbollah and wounded two others on July 25 in the town of Rab Thalathine in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told China’s Xinhua news agency.
The unnamed sources reported that an Israeli combat drone fired two munitions at the vicinity of the cemetery in Rab Thalathine.
Later, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it struck a “rocket launching site” near Rab Thalathine. The military said in a statement that the strike was coordinated by the 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit and released video footage.
Hezbollah mourned the slain fighter. At around the same time, the group announced that it had struck buildings occupied by Israeli troops in the settlements of al-Manara and Shtula. It also said that its fighters shelled a gathering of the IDF in the area of Hursh Adather and the al-Ramtha border site with rockets.
The attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent strikes on Lebanon, Hezbollah said in separate statements.
In addition to the attacks announced by Hezbollah, Hebrew media reported that suicide drones launched from Lebanon hit the Western Galil.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza last October, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in 12 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 18 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 500 people have been killed, including 359 fighters of Hezbollah and over 100 civilians.
