Hezbollah carried out on August 22 another wave of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent strikes on southern Lebanon.

In separate statements, Hezbollah said it shelled the Pranet barracks as well as the sites of al-Marj and al-Malkiyah. It added that two deployment areas of Israeli troops near the sites of al-Ghajar and Metula were struck with “suitable weapons” and another in the settlement of Kiryat Shmona was targeted with a “squadron” of suicide drones.

The group also announced that it struck buildings occupied by Israeli troops in the settlement of Metula and targeted a surveillance system of the IDF in the Jal al-Alam site.

Hebrew media reported some material losses, especially in Metula. Nevertheless, there were no reports of any casualties.

The attacks came after a violent wave of Israeli strikes hit southern Lebanon overnight. The IDF said that the strikes targeted weapon depots, buildings used by Hezbollah, and a rocket launcher, in ten different areas. Still, no casualties were reported by Lebanese media.

Hezbollah and its allies began launching attacks against the IDF in support of the Hamas Movement and other armed factions in Gaza after the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Strip last October.

So far, the confrontation has resulted in 26 civilian deaths in Israel and the occupied Golan as well as the deaths of at least 19 soldiers and security officers. On the Lebanese side, more than 700 people have been killed, including 401 fighters of Hezbollah and over 130 civilians.
