Clashes continue on the Lebanese-Israeli border with Hezbollah carrying out a series of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on January 13.
The group said in separate statements its fighters targeted the military sites of al-Asi, Birkat Risha and Ruwaisat al-Alam as well as the Baranit barracks with rockets and other weapons. It also announced attacks on gatherings of Israeli troops near the settlement of Hunin and on the Tulaihat Hill.
In other statements, Hezbollah said that it had fired rockets at the settlement of Shtoula and destroyed a main battle tank of the IDF near the military site of al-Matla.
The attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in response to recent Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, the group noted in its statements.
From its side, the IDF said that it carried out a wave of airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon in response to recent attacks. The positions struck by fighter jets in the towns of Meiss al-Jabal and Yarine included various infrastructure used by the group, according to the IDF.
Hezbollah and its allies have been launching attacks against the IDF from southern Lebanon since the start of the war on Gaza last October.
As of January 13, the clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli have resulted in four civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 180 have been killed. The toll includes 150 Hezbollah fighters, 14 of whom were killed in Syria, 25 Palestinians, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 24 civilians.
