Houthi Drones Keep Coming: At Least Six Shot Down Over Southern Saudi Arabia

The Saudi-led coalition intercepted a total of six “booby-trapped” drones launched from Yemen by the Houthis (Ansar Allah) over the last few days.

A single drone was intercepted on June 22. It was reportedly heading to attack a target in the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait. Early on June 23, the second drone was shot down while it was on its way to the southern city of Jizan. In the afternoon of the same day, four drones were shot down over the Kingdom’s southern region.

“The efficiency of [our] air defenses foiled all hostile [attack] attempts on the Kingdom,” the Saudi-led coalition said in a statement addressing the most recent drone attack.

The drones were most likely shot down by warplanes of the Royal Saudi Air Force. F15 fighter jets armed with AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missile are usually tasked with such critical missions.

The Houthis have not commented on the Saudi-led coalition’s claims, so far. The Yemeni group keeps some of its operations a secret.

Last week, a total of 20 Houthi “booby-trapped” drones were intercepted by the Saudi-led coalition. Some of the drones were successfully shot down over Yemen before they could penetrate the Kingdom’s airspace.

The performance of the Saudi-led coalition’s air-defense and aerial forces improved in the last few years. Nevertheless, some of the recent Houthi drone attacks were successful.

Saudis are going to need a refill from Uncle Sam soon. At a million a pop …

kenny

But why do they get shot down so often?

block

saudi inbred clowns do not understand the concept of assymetric warfare. They will figure it out in the next 200 years.

farbat

you are mistaken saudi arabia is basically already on its knees and what they do is lie its very simple they lie and lie and lie and win fake victories while they waste money on the other end in a losing war so this yemen issue is pretty much coming to its end soon because the saudis cant handle wars they are the worst at it and money wont fix it neither will a million lies

the yemenies usually announce all operations afterwards even the failed ones in their government sides and their news and so on and usually when the saudis claim stuff that yemenies dont even talk about than its either completely untrue or they add alot of lies on top of one truth in fact the saudis are consistant in lying and the houthies are consistant in being quite open even about small operations
