On November 28, a precision-guided rocket that was launched by the Houthis  (Ansar Allah) fell in the northern outskirts of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

“The Houthi militia launched a ballistic missile from the al-Jarbatin area north of Sanaa, but the missile fell moments after it was launched in the center of Shaab Thafan village,” an eyewitness told the UAE-based al-Arabia TV.

Yemeni sources shared a video showing the remains of the rocket, which was identified as a Badir-1P precision-guided artillery rocket.

The Badir-1P was revealed for the first time by the Houthis in October 2018. The rocket has a range of 130 km and a circular error probable of 3 meters, according to the Yemeni group’s claims.

The rocket, which is allegedly guided by a satellite-aided internal navigation system, is believed to be a local variant of the Iranian Fajir rocket family.

The design of the rocket’s tail fins appears to be identical to that of the Iranian-made Fajir-4R 333 mm precision-guided artillery rocket.

The Houthis ability to manufacture such advanced precision-guided rockets despite the siege on Yemen is a testimony to the failure of the Saudi-led coalition. To this day, the coalition has cause no damage to the Yemen group’s offensive capabilities.
