On February 21, Houthi fighters repelled a large attack by the Saudi-led coalition and troops loyal to Saudi-backed Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi on their positions in the Bawabat al-Tashrefat area around the city of Taiz in southwestern Yemen, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV.

Al-Masirah TV added that Houthi fighters had killed several fighters of pro-Hadi forces and captured one.

Moreover, the Houthis shelled several positions of the Saudi-led coalition and pro-Hadi forces in the villages of Najd and Ab’ar in the Salh district of Tazi province. Houthi fighters also destroyed a vehicle of pro-Hadi forces in Ab’ar.

From its side, the UAE-based al-Arabiya TV reported that Saudi-led coalition warplanes had targeted several positions and vehicles of the Houthis in the areas of Muaz’a, al-Buruh, Mafraq al-Wazia’a and al-Arif in the northwestern part of Tazi province.

According to al-Arabiya, Saudi-led coalition warplanes are currently monitoring and attacking any Houthi target, which tries to move between the province of Tazi and the Yemeni capital Sadaa in an attempt to cut off the Houthis’ supply lines in southwestern Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition and pro-Hadi forces launched a military operation to break the Houthis siege on Tazi city on January 25. However, Saudi-backed forces have achieved a limited success so far.
